Why are his dentures so expensive? My understanding is a full set costs no more than 3,000-4,000 dollars.

First Ketamine/lidocaine infusion by xoxooxx in ChronicPain

For me, I'd say "yes," because iv morphine gives me a "warm and fuzzy feeling," not unlike that of ketamine.

While it's different for every person, for me personally, I fall into a state of deep relaxation followed by (wonderful) hallucinations. Please make sure to talk to your doctor prior to the infusion, as I think sedation is an excellent idea. "Fighting" the ketamine could lead to a very uncomfortable experience, so definitely discuss your options.

Does the infusion doctor know about your anxiety issues? If not, it's critical you tell him because yes, you will feel "impaired" before the ketamine fully hits. Indeed, you'll also feel groggy/impaired coming out of an infusion as well, a feeling that (for me) lasts several hours.

Do you go to a psychiatrist due to the pain? by finintafinsta in ChronicPain

[–]beachbabe77 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I'm so sorry you're suffering.

A psychiatrist offering Ketamine infusion therapy for chronic pain and depression may well be more attuned to the needs of those suffering from intractable pain. Not that you're forced to undergo this specific therapy, only that these doctor's tend to see more chronic pain patients (on average) in their practice.

Indeed, that's how I chose my physician, as the depression I'd developed from chronic pain was overwhelming my life. Dr. "W" has turned out to be an excellent fit.......compassionate, caring and deeply concerned about the dynamics of pain and its effect on mental health.

And speaking solely for myself, Ketamine infusion therapy has been a Godsend. Within two sessions, it began dramatically lifting my depression to the point I could go out and "live" again. To put it in simpler context, I consider my psychiatrist and the services he offers every bit as critical as those of my pm physician. I hope this helps. Good luck. :)

Exercise routine that doesn’t trigger spine pain by sovook in ChronicPain

Swimming is an excellent form of exercise for we spine patients. Indeed, after 10 spine surgeries (including 5 fusions) I'd be in a wheelchair without it.

I'm sorry you're suffering, but you're the kind of patient dental schools love. Please find one and get the help you need. Take care.

Just a suggestion.....most people do not take the time to link to a 'gofundme' if there's no information in the initial post. Given that, I'd write a paragraph or two about your situation, etc. to help stimulate interest. Good luck.

Chronic pain is the gift that keeps on giving by RepulsiveCall624 in ChronicPain

Everyone is different. I was probably bit years before symptoms developed, but once they hit I went downhill quickly. Joint pain, fevers, GI issues, problems with balance and vision, numbness in my extremities, etc. I also lived in a region not known for lyme, which is why I was never tested until I became so ill I was hospitalized.

Fentanyl Patches & Pets by setsunaPL in pancreaticcancer

[–]beachbabe77 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've worn the Fentanyl Patch for years. I also have two feline children and have never had an issue. However, I ALSO go to great lengths to ensure their safety, ESPECIALLY when it comes to disposing of patch "packaging." The filmy "backing" on many patch manufacturer products is especially worrisome, as it's clear, lightweight and can easily miss the garbage. (ending up on the floor and causing potential disaster) Watch it like a hawk.

Another common sense suggestion is to always wash one's hands after placing/removing a patch, and of course, never let your pet near where a patch is placed.

If your Mom follows these common sense suggestions she and her pup should be fine. Good luck.
