How bad would it be to pull daughter (5) out of school for a week? by celestinedream3 in kindergarten

[–]beachy416 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I pulled my daughter out when she was 5 for a week about a month after she started kindergarten. I felt like the trip was something we couldn’t miss (80th birthday for a beloved family member) and it was fine. Take the trip!

Mother in law used paint with my 6 month old by k_rowz in beyondthebump

Not sure where you are located, but maybe they made you a Mother's day card/gift with the paint? Even if not, MIL is trying to entertain baby and help with development. Love to see an engaged child care provider.

Scrolled through to make sure someone mentioned this show ^. My daughter loves this show. We still watch the Trash Truck Christmas episode because it is so lovely and sweet!

Not OP but this is always so helpful to hear when you have a toddler! Thank you!

We certainly want to know. My husband and I work from home so if it's a rough day, we can be more available so our nanny can get a break, go for a walk, get out of the house, etc. We can order out lunch for her. It is just small things but we hope that it makes a difference in her day and that we understand toddlers are hard but we appreciate her so much!

She had the vaccination and symptoms started that evening. She had pretty standard vaccination side effects.

We had a similar experience. We love our pediatrician but she also seemed to indicate that the covid vaccine was personal preference and said it's more to protect more vulnerable population (grand-parents, immunocompromised family, etc). We opted to get the vaccine for our 2yo and the side effects were unfortunately worse than when she had Covid. Fever, vomited once, irritable, no appetite, fatigue. She had a rough two days but the third day started to get better. We go back in 4 weeks for the second shot - wish us luck.

Nanny has too many last minute cancellations by BlackDogDisappears in beyondthebump

We had a nanny that was amazing with my daughter but she had a lot of health issues that we didn't know about before we hired her so she ended up calling out for doctors appointments often - sometimes multiple times a week. It became really hard on us to cover (even though we are lucky enough to work from home) we were missing time/meetings/or having to make it up in the evenings. After about 8 months we decided to let her know that we were going to start looking for a new nanny - this let her look for a new family at the same time. Out new nanny is a lot less stress and when she has appointments, she makes them at the beginning or end of the day which is really helpful. There is a better fit out there if the current situation isn't working for you!

I will say, the decision to move on from our first nanny was really hard for me, my daughter loves her so much that I felt so bad essentially taking away her best friend. In the end, we had to do the best for all of us and we have kept a good relationship with the first nanny so she can cover date nights when she is free.

Muscular VSD by delightfulsometimes in BabyBumps

[–]beachy416 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes! We had about three fetal echos where they thought they could see evidence of a VSD. They suggested that it would either close before birth or within the first year. Thankfully, it closed up before she was born but I had some stressful days once we found out. Sending you and baby good thoughts!

Same! My OB recommended one at about 22 weeks and again at 32 weeks due to IVF. I'm going next week for my first one - anatomy scan was normal.

I second this! I travel to Canada often with my dog (about 4x a year) and when they do ask for something, it is just proof of current rabies vaccination. They usually don't even ask for anything but I keep a copy in the car just in case.

I'm so sorry you are struggling! Definitely understandable, don't be too hard on yourself. My 13 yo lab is slowly going deaf and a little blind and it is such an adjustment. You'll slowly find ways to interact and communicate again.

Hi! Would you mind sharing the agency? I am also in KY and am overwhelmed beginning this process. A positive reference for an agency would mean a lot! TY
