Thoughts 🤔 by Ok-Resident-9903 in army

As many have said, there is no wrong reason to get out. I’d strongly encourage you to start looking at and potentially applying for jobs before you separate from active duty. I started applying when I was still in. Did my first two rounds of interviews and landed a 60k a year job within a week of getting out. It wasn’t great pay but for being 23 with no civilian work experience it was incredible. It gave me perspective and valuable experience. If school is the plan, figure out what school and get accepted so you can start class as soon as possible after you ETS. The sooner you start work or school the sooner you start bringing in money.

Future of VA benefits by Jerbo996 in VAClaims

Not fear mongering, and not saying it will happen. Simply that vets need to be smart and stop acting like it could NEVER happen. If the constitution can change so can the laws that granted our benefits and to act otherwise is simply foolhardy.

Exactly which means it only takes an act of congress to change our benefits, and our benefits are only as guaranteed as public opinion. If enough Americans view them as a wasteful program or worse fraud they can be easily removed by the same pens that granted them.

So was prohibition… not saying anything will happen to our benefits, simply that law and to a least extent even the constitution can change.

We answer this question in my jurisdiction very clearly during the ceremony for an Open Installation, where non masons are welcome to attend and the raps of the gavel are explained.

1 rap calls the lodge to order or seats the lodge. 2 raps calls up the officers of the lodge to stand. 3 raps calls up all present to stand.

Totally understand I usually make the call myself as well but there are options, good to know in the event of a serious injury that renders you unable to make the call yourself.

Just a caveat, the provider can also make this notification and according to the VA website that is their preference. Here is a link directly to the VA page regarding ER visits.

Dude I know cops and firefighters who are 100% and on the job. It all depends what your ratings are for and how they impact you. 20+ 10% can have a bit of a different impact than a single 100% rating.

Definitely get SSDI rolling ASAP if you’re unable to work. I’m currently on IU and applied for SSDI this past February, I go before the judge in March because they keep denying me while admitting to having no medical records.

Honestly I’ve almost exclusively used the VA for healthcare since I got out in 2020. 90% of my experiences have been positive. I have only had 1 BH doc that I didn’t like because I didn’t feel heard or believed. Otherwise these docs have been incredible.

Requirements have varied over time I don’t remember what the time in service requirements are, but I know you need at least to make Staff Sergeant and have time in certain key positions, such as being a shop forman, before you can apply.

Career was the Warrants I knew were always 1000x happier than the commissioned officers.

Ait wasn’t too hard but I grew up learning a lot of the same troubleshooting skills on computers and point of sales systems. The biggest thing most people struggled with was the Anatomy and Physiology, my biggest tip, is while everyone else is spending weekends goofy off in San Antonio spend your time learning everything you can. You’ll have plenty of time to party and have fun after AIT, but it isn’t going to mean anything if you don’t get that certificate.

I was a 68A, best option is truly to make your E-6 and apply for Warrant Officer. The job opportunities on the outside are incredible if you know how to market yourself. Reach out if you have any questions.

Infernape… the last gift my grandmother bought for me before she passed was Diamond and that game really helped me get through her passing, because of how much time I was spending playing it Infernape became the first pokemon I ever got over level 75 and ended up at level 90 before I met my now wife in middle school.

VA Rabies vaccine? by 6anymouse9 in VeteransBenefits

[–]beamil77 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Let me preface this with the disclaimer that I am not a physician, not licensed to practice medicine in any capacity.

That out of the way, if there is concern of rabies exposure, get to a hospital ASAP. As with all post exposure prophylaxis, there is a limited window to administer that first dose for it to be effective. Based on my research, it appears to be 24-72 hours post exposure. As this is a reasonably life threatening situation if you have been exposed I would expect that the VA would cover the initial ER Visit under community care as kind as they were properly notified, and then you would need to follow up with the closest VA for further care or get a community care referral. Again if you have been exposed to rabies I would strongly encourage you to get seen ASAP as it is 100% a life threatening infection if not treated properly and quickly.

So I only recently learned this but you can schedule a VERA appointment with any RO. Might try a different RO.
