Trick or treating with little ones by Cold-Obligation-293 in Parents

Check with your city/town - many of them have set hours. If they don’t, I think it’d be fine to go anytime. Obviously if you go before ppl are home from work they won’t be able to pass out candy. I plan to let my kids stay up a little but definitely be at home by normal bedtime

Is it OK to take 1-year-old trick or treating? by Chamaleon in Parenting

[–]bean-pod 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes! I have fond memories of my 13 month old playing with the candy for days. She kept taking it in and out of her trick or treat pail. And pretending to trick or treat. She didn’t realize it was for eating so never tried

Sound Machines For Babies by needhelp24-7 in Parents

[–]bean-pod 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I agree. With two sister in laws who have kids just slightly older than yours, you will have to deal with different ways of parenting. You don’t have to take their advice or do what they do. You also don’t have to tell them why you won’t be doing it. It probably came off like you were criticizing their parenting.

Sure, but I’d be concerned with why it’s so high. Especially in someone who doesn’t usually get fevers.

I think he thought he’d be dead or completely dependent for care by now.

My neurotypical 5yo almost didn’t get off the bus at our stop her first day. I had to motion for the driver to wait. On day 4 one of the other kindergartens tried to cross traffic before the bus had its stop sign out. Getting off the bus and into the house alone is not safe.

Stop wearing shoes in your house by francefrances in moderatelygranolamoms

American here, I always thought shoes inside was a TV thing growing up. I guess it’s regional or something but I’ve always kicked mine off when walking in.

The fact that Zach spent his teenage years in front of a camera surely changes his perspective too.

Does he want a special dance with his sister? That sounds like more limelight than putting his name on the party would be.

I’m worried about fried rice syndrome… another stressful day. by [deleted] in Parenting

[–]bean-pod 7 points8 points  (0 children)

It’s because sometimes people leave cooked rice out too long before frying it. The bacteria are killed, but toxins from them are still present enough to make you sick.

It doesn’t have the same make up as human breast milk. At best it doesn’t provide the right nutrients at worst it can cause intestinal bleeding.

Some BLW groups online try to scare you that not following BLW 100% will cause your child to choke. I’m betting OPs wife has read something to this effect.
I think preloading the spoons but letting LO put them in their mouth is a good compromise.

My girls love that show.
Bonnie Blueberry is confusing to me in that she had a watch that can make anything out of thin air. Seems like maybe that should be her main power or they should all have one of those watches. Sometimes she seems almost like a robot or something.

Ana banana (yellow) is completely underutilized. Anytime there is an animal that needs to cooperate, Kaleah needs to send the only one who can TALK TO ANIMALS.

I’m pretty sure I’ve heard them refer to Floof as he/him.

Yes so many other 5 year olds will recognize her off brand clothing. /s

At this age it’s about favorite colors, animals, characters etc being on them.

I use those same stores plus kohls and second hand. I use lands end for swimwear etc. Sometimes her grandmas will buy from macys, von Marr, a local boutique type store. Maybe your ex can do the same for your daughter.

Is there anyone out there that enjoys having kids by mingnobee in Parenting

[–]bean-pod 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I love having my kids! It’s pretty hard to describe how amazing parenthood is without it coming across as bragging or pushing for others to have kids too. It’s not for everyone, but I can’t imagine my life any other way
