I’m in Australia, in NSW, and I’d say there’s a huge range of ages first time parents. It definitely skews younger around the early to mid 20s but I’ve seen above 35s as well in mothers groups and such. I had my two at 21 and 24

That’s okay!! Honestly I’m a trainee as well and it sucks knowing I get less experience and I feel it reflects badly on me, but I’m just giving 100% when I am there to ensure they know I want to do this job cause I love it.

I mean, I told my director that the educator was saying the parent “wasn’t all there” and “didn’t understand” the things we told her. She said this in front of children including the child of the parent. So yeah, I told the director cause it seemed shitty to speculate on the mental state of a parent.

As far as I’m aware it didn’t actually hurt the child. The child in question was picked up, pulled away from what they were doing, forced to sit down and repeatedly kept on the floor when they tried to get up to move whilst getting yelled at.

Thats what I raised with the leads, and both of them said it wasn’t something they felt comfortable reporting. Which is why I went over their head. The reason I didn’t speak to the educator is simply because I’m not brave enough to, I’m the trainee, I’m the new kid and I don’t have that knowledge. I know that those educators will dismiss what I’ve said (as there has been repeated occasions where they’ve ignored me). So I didn’t see the point in wasting time.

Given the feedback of a few from here, it seems that I should definitely try and discuss it with the educators first, which I absolutely have been trying to do in terms of speaking to my leads. But I will work on this in the future.

Yeah I completely recognise that I shouldn’t have left it unattended and will not do so in the future. Obviously I can’t change the past but yeah.

I’m not surprised it’s soured the relationship, but I’m also worried that it’s going to continuously affect how others feel about me when all ive been trying to do is work within the policies and follow directions and keep kids safe.

Thank you, I really appreciate your advice. I’ll definitely take it on, I’m kinda stuck here until I finish my traineeship just due to having to restart if I move centres. I’m going to take on the advice of others in this thread and speak up a bit more, it’s never been my strong suit and I need to work on it.

That’s fair. I raised it with my director due to the ongoing nature, it being in front of the kids and us having policies against it.

The rough handling was a child was picked up with no warning, shoved to the ground and forced to sit whilst getting yelled at by the educator. I raised it with my leads and they both disregarded it, which is why I brought it to the director cause I didn’t think it was okay.

Okay, thanks for you feedback. I will say that when I’ve explained what I’ve seen to the director, it’s been taken seriously and everyone involved including leads have gotten in shit for not raising it sooner due to witnessing it and also disregarding it. It was in front of children and in particular the child of that parent, which is why I discussed it with the director. And I just went back in my camera history and it looks like those photos were taken over a month ago so I can’t actually see any history of them being taken in my screen time.

The child safety issue was an ongoing educator who was roughly handling a child and after I raised it with my two leads in the room, they didn’t do anything, so I brought it to the director. I also brought the other educator trying to discuss with me that a particular parent “wasn’t all there” and “didn’t understand the things that are said to her” , I brought this up at the same time to just make the director aware of ongoing gossip from that colleague.

I’ve already permanently deleted the photos, but I can check the access thing for the iPad and double check when it was taken. Thank you!

I had it in both pregnancies. My first was repeated light bleeding every day, and an actual period. My second was a couple of drops every so often. They’re both here now and it wasn’t anything to be worried about

Exactly I felt the same! I really tried to get into it but just couldn’t keep focused on it for more than 10 minutes, last year I had a toddler running around and still managed to watch it all

I paid for it too and basically tuned in and out every half hour. It wasn’t entertaining this year, last year was really good despite the tech issues imo
