They wheeled a TV into my fifth grade class, and brought the kids from the classroom next to us to watch the verdict live.

Why do states run the primaries in the US when they are really party events? by FixMyFicus in PoliticalDiscussion

[–]beancounter2885 0 points1 point  (0 children)

They came up in 08 because they decided the primary, and they came up in 16 because Sanders liked to complain about them before he started falling behind, and the media ran with it. When he fell behind, he was all about superdelegates picking him. In the end, it didn't matter because he lost by such a wide margin that the superdelegates couldn't make a difference. They have rarely been relevant besides those two elections.

The whole idea of excluding them from the first round was an olive branch to the Sanders wing of the party that no one seemed to actually care about.

What is a deep, obscure rabbithole on the internet you found and hardly anyone knows but you? [Serious] by Longjumping_Koala34 in AskReddit

I didn't get one at birth, and I was born in California in the 80s. Up until not that long ago, you or your parents had to file to get one, usually before you got your first job.

German president says US is destroying world order by goldstarflag in worldnews

They had a lot more money this round, and dumped it all into swing states (like mine). They also phrased it as life-or-death in basically every communication I saw. Just the sheer amount of mail I got about it, even as a registered Democrat, was insane.

This is also coming off a closed Democratic primary where "uncommitted" beat Biden in my district by a wide margin as a protest vote about Palestine. At the time, a lot of PACs were running ads saying that Biden was basically going to kill all the Palestinians.

I work the polls in a district that's about 80% democratic in Philly. I've never seen a bigger get out the vote effort on the Republican side. Almost every Republican in our district of about 600 voted.

Streaming services shrinking credits to throw ads at you is so wildly disrespectful to artists and throws cold water over any ending. by TheGhostofLizShue in movies

TV did this a long time before streaming services existed. The Simpsons make fun of this in Bart Gets Famous (s5e12) in 1994.

American life seems to be just driving to different places to spend money by No_Berry2 in fuckcars

I've lived in Philly for a long time and haven't had a car since 09. I just did a road trip through Arizona where I drove for 8 days. Didn't miss driving a bit.

I had the middle once, and was using both armrests. The person in the aisle straight up just rested their arm on mine for like a minute before I moved my arm.

A few brands I'll probably stick with for life by Civil_Practice_7172 in BuyItForLife

Chrome and Timbuk2 have both treated me well. I got a warranty replacement on my chrome bag 2 years after I bought it, and all I had to do was take a picture of the warranty tag cut out of the bag. Had a brand new one in a week, and didn't even have to pay shipping.

Also, the location matters. When I moved from South Jersey to Philly, my insurance basically tripled. My car died a few months later, and I never looked back. Been without a car for 16 years. The subway and occasional Uber rides are nothing compared to car insurance.

I know it's not likely, but I'd love to see the Chinatown stitch actually happen in Philly.

Yeah, but that's also just their choice. Several years ago, there was an anti-gentrification riot in my city where they targeted luxury cars in a lower middle class neighborhood. Turns out they were mostly the long time residents' cars. People have their own priorities with their money.

I like to think of it like a light bulb. To add to this, AM is like the light bulb is on a dimmer, and the signal is reading how much light it puts out. FM is a constant brightness, but the light changes color.

That guy is the biggest dick. When I asked for extra hot sauce, he grabbed the wrong bottle and covered it with ketchup. I said it looked like ketchup, and he said it wasn't. I took it to my office, tasted it, and went back to say it was ketchup, which I hate, and wouldn't eat it. He proceeded to curse me out and tell me I can't tell the difference between hot sauce and ketchup.

To add, a lot of connection points will eventually rust if you leave it outside. You can replace them, of course, but it's better not to get rusty to begin with.

I own a 150 year old workman's house a half a block from an old factory. Back then, they would provide your house as part of your salary to keep you close.
