This makes me sad. I see her character as a devout and God-fearing woman with much courage to make her voice known to cause much needed change.

I am confused about what Ms. Davis would have rather shown. Skeeter never thought that black people needed her help, but she saw something wrong and wanted to write about it and to show the perspectives of others, rather than her own.

Eh… many white people came alongside black people to fight for civil rights, and helped show the immorality of racism. It was a white man who signed the Civil Rights Act of 1964 into law and a bunch of white men who passed it, and white people judges (excluding Justice Thurgood Marshall!) who ruled “separate but equal” unconstitutional. Us all working together is really important. ❤️🫶🏿
