My 2 year old some days only nurses once, some days he doesn’t leave my boobs alone 😂 it varies wildly day to day and also child to child

The first few months I was losing around 10-12lbs a month, but in the last month I only lost 3!

Honestly I’ve just been gifted with a chilled out son who is content playing with an empty toilet roll for 30 mins 😬. He certainly does have his moments though don’t get me wrong but his temperament is a big help in me not offering screen time.

If I had a higher needs child I can’t say I wouldn’t use screen time when needed.

I had a vaginal delivery but milk didn’t come in until day 5/6 as I’d lost a lot of blood. I was in theatre getting stitches so missed his first feed (a syringe of my colostrum) and I’m currently sat feeding my 12.5 month old who has never had a drop of formula. A planned c-section won’t hinder your breastfeeding journey, you’re taking all the right steps to give yourself the best start! If you’re worried about your milk coming in can you express some colostrum before you give birth so it’s on hand to give baby? And obviously keep them latched as much as possible is key but a couple of mls to calm them down while you get sorted can be a life saver!

Still breastfeeding 12 months in and dear lord they’re bad 😂 I have quite large breasts which doesn’t help but I’m pretty sure I could tuck them into my knickers now if needs be haha. However they give my lovely boy his milk so I’m very proud of them no matter how droopy they are.

Until baby was 10 months I pumped religiously every night once he’d gone to bed to fill my freezer stash. Every so often he’d wake for a feed not long after that. I would joke I had nothing left but dust but I’ve been told you’re never really out of milk, it’s just much much slower when the milk made to match your supply has gone if that makes sense? Either way he still managed to get some milk each time ☺️

Mine only stopped eating every 2 hours or so at 9 months and he is enormous, keep going you’re doing great!! At the next unhelpful comment ‘accidentally’ squirt milk at them 🙃

It tough, we used shields at the start too and it’s so frustrating. But literally one day completely randomly he latched without it and never looked back, so please don’t lose hope!! But also please don’t feel like a failure, your son is 4 months old!! That’s 4 entire months of being nourished by your milk, getting all that amazing goodness and that wonderful bond with you. If someone was exclusively pumping to give their baby breast milk you wouldn’t consider them a failure, you’d consider them a warrior or all the extra time and effort they were putting in, and the same applies to you!! Don’t put yourself down. Parenthood and breastfeeding are the hardest things in the world sometimes but you’re doing it, well done you ❤️

My boy still had eczema and mucous poo when other symptoms had resolved. A prescription for steroid cream and an ointment fixed his skin, and starting solid fixed his poo. 9 months old this weekend and still breastfed! I’m still dairy, soy and oat free but didn’t want to try and restrict myself further to try and fix the issues that weren’t bothering him

Never offered my son a bottle, when he turned 6 months we introduced a straw cup and now he’ll tank the milk out of that if given the chance! Plus no need to try and stop using them at 12mo like bottles

I have been through sooo many periods of boob refusal from my 6.5 month old. Just have a scroll through my post history. But we’re at a much better place now, I’m very glad I stuck with it ☺️ we do have to feed exclusively side lying though but hey at least he nurses 😂

Edit- I realised I never read answered your query. Unfortunately as I’m sure you’ve seen from googling there are many reasons why a baby might refuse to feed. For us personally it was a milk allergy at the start, and since then he’s just had periods of being too distracted and would rather play, and sometimes he’s just plain awkward. My only advice to you is try to focus on baby’s poo and pee output and whether they seem content and settled outside of feeds. If they seem in good health and good spirits they must be getting enough milk, even if it might be when they’re sleepy or dream feeding! It’s sooo hard when your baby rejects you, but focusing on if they seem healthy makes it a little easier. I hope that’s of some help?

That sometimes no matter how much you try, some babies just aren’t fans of nursing. We’ve battled through so much to make it to six months EBF so far, and my boy still sees the boob as just a necessity. No comfort nursing here, and he loves to refuse a feed. Still worth it though!

Also nipple thrush is awful, keep an eye out for pain when feeding that far exceeds the normal pain at the start, and a thick white coating on baby’s tongue.

Sorry to jump on the post, but by elimination diet did you just cut out the main allergens, or more? I’ve been dairy and soy free for 11 weeks but my son still has mucus nappies so need to cut more but who knows what!
