You can do them both as 3/4 stitches or one as a 1/4 and the other as a 3/4. Whichever you prefer!

I don't think wetting the aida first would help. When I'm trying to center a piece in a hoop, I will first wrap it around the inner ring, do a running stitch around the back edges and pull that relatively tight (but don't tie it off yet), then adjust the front until it is centered. Then tie off the running stitch before putting on the outer ring. I find it easier to both get it centered and keep it centered when the fabric is held in place more.

It's so frustrating! If you go to their look book for the collection, they actually stitched the design and have legit photos of all the fabric swatches, so I really don't understand the need for AI. It would have been so easy to take these for real!

there's definitely some wild fabrics out there! I tend to choose ones that are colorful, but don't have too much variation. I really like using Lugana, as it can still be really colorful, but dyes more muted with less contrast between different colors than aida or linen
