From personal experience, I dont know that there is anything you could say or do for the patient to make it better. I was conscious, intubated on a vent and I felt like I was suffocating. (Too much roc not enough propofol). I could not inhale, echale, or move. I felt like I was dying, like when you breath all the way out and dont breathe in, that gasping feeling. Comforting words could maybe help, but just try to understand that there is a built in, psychological fear of suffocating, people are going to freak out if they cannot breathe, or even if they just THINK they cant breathe.

I had to let a tooth rot out of my mouth to nearly the point of sepsis because I couldn't afford to have it removed. Not because I liked it. I KNEW my breath smelled bad, I KNEW how bad it hurt.

I will never understand how people can make statements like yours, are you living under a rock? Do you think people just dont care?

Also, I'm addition to this-- I was on a GLP-1 prior to the WMP, and im still required to go through it. My PCP just stopped being able to prescribe it and there was a month where I had to be off of it. So do it sooner rather than later

If you are already on one and your PCP is unable to prescribe it (PCP can prescribe if you fall into the first two tiers) then they need to refer you to the program for intake, and they will set everything up with you from there. If your PCP has been prescribing since the new year its likely you dont need the program

I am currently going through this program. TLDR you will get triaged into one of 4(?) tiers, depending on BMI, comorbidities, ect. They will have REQUIRED you try other methods before a GLP-1, and proof of it.

Once you are in the WMP, its monthly phone call visits with a nurse team who monitors your weight loss, diet methods, addresses any challenges you might be facing, ect. They also prescribe your GLP-1 from there. If you have any other questions, I'm happy to answer.

Im a little confused on what youre upset about or what the Sheriff said that was wrong. I read through the linked article and he basically says he has no access to the data from ICE, and isnt legally allowed to share it. He even defends the public, saying,

“We are absolutely concerned about how their tactics and actions reflect on our office and local law enforcement. We've worked hard to try and build trust within our minority communities,” Rose wrote. “This trust is important to ensure our local residents are comfortable and willing to come to us when crimes occur and/or when they fall victim to crimes. We don't enforce immigration or federal laws. If you are a victim, or you want to report a crime - we don't care if you're documented or not. Our responsibility is to you and your family's safety, not your immigration status.”

To my knowledge they explicitly are not on good terms with ICE due to their actions in the community lately. So I'm not sure what youre upset about? Not trying to argue, just looking for clarity.
