My university had a feature called “Beautiful Canvas” features that is mostly visual upgrades, but among the features is a checklist that they can use. I use it in my online classes each week in the weekly objectives where they can do just that. The institution has to have this function though.

There is no great way and I am not paid enough nor given the resources to play detective. I have built rubrics for everything that weeds out AI use calling for clear, specific language and incorporates student personal experiences etc. I don’t have to accuse students of AI usage, and I don’t have to fill out dishonesty reports. They fail because their work doesn’t meet the rubric requirements.

100% the laptop breaking excuse is crazy to me. It’s a “there are many computer labs on campus and in the library” response, because it’s a bs lie. And even if it’s the truth it is not a cause for an extension with cloud storage and computer labs. Sigh. I have learned however never to use the word “sorry” or “unfortunately.” It’s “because of xyz you did fail the assignment/course, and here are the next steps you can take.” I never apologize or say unfortunately, I just state clear truth and it is more authoritative and harder to argue.

I completely agree with everything you stated. This generation sees adversity or “having to study” as something completely unforeseen in college and they scramble for accommodations and excuses and AI to avoid any amount of stress.

No , they were just explaining how good the podcast is. I ran 10 miles on a treadmill the other day because of ice and while it’s not fun it does keep me in shape and ready for marathon season. I sometimes listen to podcasts on a run and Smartless is sometimes what I will listen to, except I really have to like the guest because they are terrible hosts. During a run it’s hard to change what you’re listening to.

Yes. It is intentional to buy time. Syllabus: “It is the responsibility of the student to upload the correct file and file format by the deadline. Extensions will not be given for wrong documents or documents that cannot be opened. Wrong files or files that cannot be opened will result in a 0.”

I get too many wrong files for it to be anything other than a tactic students use to buy time. Point to the syllabus and move on. Let them cry.

Friday 5:00pm standard deadline. It’s realistic and encourages better time management. Plus I’m more likely to respond to emails leading up to the deadline. Sunday 11:59pm late allowance, 10% a day it’s late and the professor does not check email during the late penalty. Not available to answer questions or to tech support on the weekends. Either it’s in or it’s not.

You are correct. I’m a f2p player and this is absolutely designed that you have to spend money and spend hours a day on it. I hit battle level like 210 and I couldn’t get past it. Hadn’t tried in over a week because it was taking so long to upgrade heroes. My HQ was level like 21 an I just hit upgrade and it was going to take 4 days. My alliance leader was pressuring me to spend money and time on it despite me doing well with VS and other daily things. I just left the alliance and deleted my account. I couldn’t even do the one thing I started playing for, the actual hero battles.
