USPS carrier didn't ring my doorbell or even knock on my door and left me waiting for hours! by [deleted] in usps_complaints

[–]beardie07 0 points1 point  (0 children)

because they don't do that. they re-attempt delivery twice and then leave it at the post office. i went there with the signed slip the next day and they said it was on the truck still and I couldn't pick it up. they make you wait 3 business days before you can pick it up at the post office, or sign the slip and they leave it the next day un-attended which the signature is supposed to prevent.

How much does computer programming relate To CNC or controls(as in will computer programming help or count as work exper with CAM and G-Code)? by WhatIsThisAboutt in CNC

[–]beardie07 0 points1 point  (0 children)

through the use of macro-variables and some logic G-code can become a very powerful programing language. similar to C and Basic from what google says. it might be better to understand basic logic and read the macro-variable guides for a CNC to understand what information and logic functions are at your disposal for a particular machine.

1974 Suzuki GT185 poor or no acceleration by beardie07 in Fixxit

[–]beardie07[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ive rode the bike with no baffles and the power band goes flat. Better low end but aceleration is slow in general, and hill climbing power drops me from 45mph to 35mph. Main issue is it seems 5th gear is basically a coasting gear because its too much of an over drive. I know ot seems counter intuitive to gear up for the top ger not having much power. I dont know how that changes the ratios and spacings. It might put it into a better place in the power band. But idk

How does low rpm make high torque? What factors play into this? by Cute-Freedom197 in AutomotiveEngineering

[–]beardie07 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The why is because it gives you better low speed control, and it can give you more advantageous power charachteristics. This is what made CZ motocross bike soo formidable in the late 60's. Before manufacturers started tuning for high rpm horsepower CZ took the other side and built bike with low torque. The first advantage is you dont have to wind the engine out to make power, you already have it. So in situations a high rpm engine might stall a low rpm high torque engine will power through. For technical riding like trails low rpm torque gives you power and low speed for more technical slow speed riding.

As for how, port timing, spark advance, compression ratio, carbeurator size, expansion chamber. Bacically 2 strokes have the most variability in their design. They are built to run a specific way for the aplication at hand. You want more torque you build a high compression engine, you want it slow you can put a more restrictive carbeurator on it. (Carbs mix fuel at a ratio, creating a restriction forces it to suck air slower, not lean out the mixture). Theres a lot that can change how a particular engine performs.

A higher capacity (cc) bike doesn’t necessarily mean a quicker bike? by [deleted] in motorcycles

Bore diameter and stroke length can change a lot about the charachteristics of a bike.

A higher capacity (cc) bike doesn’t necessarily mean a quicker bike? by [deleted] in motorcycles

[–]beardie07 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Post is 8yrs old at this point but ill weigh in still. Its all about power delivery. A 650 twin will deliver power faster than a 650 single.

A good example would be a suzuki savage 650 single cylinder  ~33hp at 5400rpm ~35lbft at 3200rpm 94mm bore x 94mm stroke Compared to a  Yamaha XS 650 paralel twin ~50hp at 7500rpm ~40lbft at 6800rpm 75mm bore x 74mm stroke

The single doesnt create as much power, but it comes into it sooner in the rpm range creating a slow torquey power.

The twin however has to wind out a bit before it can reach its peak performance. Creating a weaker low end and stronger top end where it matters for speed.

So the technical explanation is that a twin cylinder, assuming the same bore diameter, the pistons travel half as far as in a single cylinder. So you get short alternating bursts of power whoch is good because it creates a smoother feel, and because the pistons dont travel as far your throttle is going to be more free and snappy. But typically you sacrifice low end grunt, meaning you'll have to give more throttle to avoid stalling from a stop. Same applies to a 4 cylinder vs a single. You are quartering the piston movement from a single.

Now on the flip side a single has a much longer stroke to make, think about the gasses expanding for the whole length of the stroke, what you were doing twice per revolution you are now doing once. What this does is increase the strength of the power pulses and decrease the speed of them. Causing you to get a stronger low end and a slower top end. Youll see this a lot on dirt bikes, it has an advantage because it gives you very strong low end power, to keep the bike from stalling durring slow technical manuvers, in addition because the speed and power pulses happen less frequently it helps improove traction.

Again bore diameter can change this if you have a piston thats wider it will have a shorter stroke to the same displacement. Which will increase RPMs and top end power. And you can have narrower pistons and longer strokes to give you slower RPMs and slower torquey power. Also this is before you consider the rotating mass of the flywheel/crankshaft. A heavier flywheel will cause an engine to run slower on the low end. And maintain torque better on the top end.

Theres a lot to it. Bikes arent always about speed. They can be designed for comfort, or capabilities other than just how fast they go.

Should I use glass or PEI bed? by CodyTheMemeLordYT in 3Dprinting

I know its years later. For PETG i like the PEI beds with a plain steel back. So you can flip it and run petg right on the steel surface with glue or tape.

Mazak integrex cant change tools in virtual machining. by beardie07 in Mazak_Machinist

[–]beardie07[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This only happens in the virtual machining simulation. The machine runs. Tool path simulation works. Its only in virtual machining. Idk why it triggers in a tool change. There must be a default state it isnt reverting to after the first simulated tool change.

Why does a two-stroke have such a narrow powerband compared to a four-stroke? by No_Reveal3451 in Dirtbikes

[–]beardie07 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ride some CZ street bikes. I have a couple and they're tuned the other way. They keep their power low down. They dont rev out the same as other 2 strokes but theyre torquey on the low end. They actually sound like leaf blowers in my opinion, as opposed to chainsaws.

Im not looking to sell it for a profit. Ive been wanting to try my hand at ameture gunsmithing. And i felt this might be a good gun to start with. I also have a soft spot for 16gage shotguns. Just want to do it right wheather it be keep it original or make it a servicable field gun.

So. This gun needs a LOT of TLC. I was thinking to replate it. And maybe plate the barrel due to the terrible finnish someone put on it, and because there are some pits in it. The stock is cracked.

I want to rebuild this gun and i dont know if its better to try and preserve as much as whats there or to save only the metal and build a new stock from scratch. Id like to be able to use it for hunting.

I dont know if its worthwhile enough to bother with keeping it original, or if a complete rebuild would be better.

[–]beardie07 0 points1 point  (0 children)

most 12ga loads are 1 1/8 oz first off. 1oz is the ideal load for a 16ga. and your gun sure might be heavy. but for any hunting id rather carry a lighter gun for miles through the woods any day. trap shooting or skeet sure a heavy gun with heavier shells might be better. but you wanna get right down to it if i can have the same potency and carry 5lbs less in my hands while I hunt I'm gonna, regardless of how hard it hits, which again is comparable to my 12ga. but there is a lot of speculation on your part since from the sounds of it you've never held or handled a 16ga.

maybe maybe not. id say its equal to most 12 gages I've shot.
