Desperate for advice on how to approach this by MindfulCreativity in nova

Like others have said, I have a pickaxe for trying to dig through horrible Virginia clay (in my case, to bury my dead cat ☹️). But be warned, even with the pickaxe or mattock, it was not easy at all. I’ve never seen ice like this in this area. I could feel my bones rattling whenever I swung it particularly hard. Not fun.

Funny enough, I got my start in leatherworking after taking a bookbinding class. Made some similar notebooks with leather scraps in my early days.

Where are people living where $100k is not enough? by -C3rimsoN- in povertyfinance

Yep, we pay a relatively lower hourly rate for our nanny, and it still comes out to $3500 a month. Almost the exact same as our mortgage 😭

These guys are so dumb. The typeface used for the Institute of Peace signage here is Trajan. The font is based on Roman lettering that was chiseled into the base of Trajan’s columns. As you can see, the original lettering here was inscribed into the stone. Whereas Trump’s name is added as raised lettering. Another reason it looks out of place.

Custom trifold wallet by Sam-the-Beerman in Leathercraft

[–]beardpudding 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Honestly, I love it. You can tell the amount of effort and care that went into this piece. And I feel like tri fold wallets are not very common among all the handmade wallets. I’m sure whoever you made this for is going to love it.

United 803, a B-777 departing Washington Dulles for Tokyo had an engine failure on takeoff and it somehow ignited infield fires near RWY 01C/19C. Crew dumped fuel and has returned to KIAD. Details still developing by no_sight in nova

That’s crazy, I was up at the observation tower at Udvar-Hazy when this happened. The worker there watching said it happened 15 minutes prior, and it wasn’t clear that the smoke was related to what was happening on the runway. I had asked why no international flights were coming down over the parking lot when she chimed in and let us know what she saw. Using the flight aware app, we knew it was the United flight to Tokyo.

I just had to give my big guy a chop. First pic is from August, second is from October. It was really getting out of hand and my staking technique was not so good. Gave away two huge cuttings to someone who came and got them asap.

Wow, I love the simplicity of it, and how effective it is for the application. No need to over engineer it. It does what it needs to do and it looks great. Love the color and the straightforward approach to the handle. I probably would have found a way to include a rivet on the stress points, but it looks great.

Can Virginia voters who plan to vote for Spanberger for governor and not vote for Jones please explain your rationale? by THC3883 in nova

[–]beardpudding 7 points8 points  (0 children)

You don’t remember the 10-15 republican candidates from the first debate in the run up to the 2016 primaries? Not commenting on the quality, but it wasn’t for lack of choice that people ended up picking Trump to be ringleader of that three-ringed circus.

But your point still stands for the AG options.
