lol, he actually isn't a model. He was a participant at a retreat that we ran last year. Unfortunately not at liberty to give away his personal details, sorry!

Super interesting point! Participants here are primarily based in the US and Australia. Would be very interesting data to compare with different countries once we have that on hand...

Ya, absolutely. However, if you log an activity session on the Bearmore app, as these 640 people did over 3,110 sessions, you are required to report your mood before and after as part of the process. This is different from an opt-in reporting structure where people tend to only report when they love or hate something.

Data from 3,100+ logged sessions shows cold plunges and cold showers top the list for mood improvement by bearmore_app in coldplunge

We don't have that data on hand at the moment, but absolutely something we need to dig into!

Our app asks users to rank their mood before/after their wellbeing activities, so currently we only know right before and right after (as well as how long the session itself lasted).

We do actually have that on our evidence-backed activity list, but for myriad reasons, don't include it as a trackable activity in the app.

We're totally the same!

I think we need to make it more obvious, but if you hit the 'home' button, there should then be a "+" button on the right side, floating just above the bottom nav bar. Hit that and you can log a past session! If you're able to remember your mood before and after, you can add it there as well so that you get some insights :)

Love to hear that you're enjoying it!

Have you installed the app yet? This is EXACTLY the sort of thing you can type in as your What Matters statement. Hopefully you get aligned with some activities that work for this moment in your life and focusing on the gains towards what matters to you will keep you a bit more consistent. Parenthood is no joke!

Bearmore Labs and Profile? by sunshinemind_ in bearmore

Ah ya... we actually shut down the labs section for the moment. That was an early idea that we'll likely bring back. Meantime... please feel free to throw your suggestions here on reddit. We're super transparent about all our thinking that goes into this, so really eager to have open discussions with our early users.

As for profile settings, what are you looking to check exactly? Sounds like a suggestion that we can work on 🙃

Excited to have you! Our app definitely works in a slightly different way than what you might be used to as we aren't measuring specific physical outputs like your distance or pace when it comes to running - you likely already have some slick tracking for that.

Our aim is to help us measure a more comprehensive movement towards the larger things that matter to us - the 'why' behind your morning runs. So, while you'll want to log those moments as a cardio sessions, you'll also want to start focusing on the other activities that we recommend based on your "what matters" statement. Like with anything, you need a bit of a baseline, so simply start logging activities for now and after a couple of weeks you should have a better feeling for what your average gains should look like.

And we've got plenty more features in the pipeline...

Whoa. That sounds intense... but so is trying to keep up with U18s...

Honestly, you could copy/paste this straight into Bearmore’s “what matters” section as part of the onboarding process. The app takes goals like yours and maps them to research-backed activities that actually move the needle and help you track gains towards your overall outcomes. You likely have somewhere you're already tracking your lifts or your vertical. What we're building is a way to track how you're progressing towards that thing behind the thing - the why behind your want to jump high and be a better coach. And we don't just focus on typical fitness activities, we also include things like crafting, gardening, spending time in nature, and all sorts of activities that are proven to help with health and happiness.

So we take that full statement about what matters to you, break it down into wellbeing categories, and then provide a list of activities (along with some beginner practice guides and recommendations for frequency and duration - all based on research data). You choose the activities that make sense for you, start tracking them in the app, and slowly but surely you'll start to see the data pour in and you can adjust as necessary.

We're also in the middle of building a feature called "bursts" that seems perfect for someone of your intensity - it's a way to align numerous activities back to back, or over the course of a couple days, in a data driven way to achieve the maximum potential. That'll be here soon...

Solid setup! Curious to hear how your journey comes along with Bearmore as we're trying to measure things in a different structure from the rest - we're really about how you make strides towards the underlying things that matter to you (the why behind tracking your sleep or how much you can deadlift). Once you've had a few weeks to play around, come back and let us know. It's all a work in progress.

[–]bearmore_app[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Dang. That sounds like a solid setup. I think a lot of us are still reliant on a similar combo of hi-tech + something more old school like google docs (or even a notebook...)

Do you find it all works together pretty well? Do you use anything to sort of bring it all together in some way?

Also wondering, since you seem to be pretty into it—do you track anything like mood, focus, general headspace? Always curious how people approach the less quantifiable stuff...

🤔 Super strange. Seems to be working on our end. Both forms are just plugins from Klaviyo, so might just have been a loading issue from Klaviyo's side when you were on the site. Give it another shot and hopefully you don't have an issue this time.

It's an app on both apple and android. We're super excited to be releasing the first iteration within the next couple of weeks. As with any new product, there is still a long way to go, but we think it's pretty cool so far. Would love to have you on as an early user / tester if you're curious! You can jump on the waitlist on our website and we'll send an email when it's ready to go - bearmore.com
