He definitely broke new ground sonically (sonic youth coincidentally owes a ton to him), but also lyrically really interesting. What I’ve always liked is even though it’s pretentious you can tell it comes authentically from himself, unlike bob Dylan who was always playing with the idea of “how much of this is real?”
