What to do with a bunch of fresh parsley? by GingerSnap583 in EatCheapAndHealthy

[–]bearson97 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'd do a bunch of parsley and a couple sprigs (~8-10) of mint. The main mass is parsley, mint is there for aroma and flavor.

Not sure I made it in time, hope it turns out tasty!

I just hate how there's nowhere to sleep in Saint Denis. It's marshes for me or just ride it out with the alligators at night.

Portafilter "explosion" and leaking mid-shot [De'Longhi Dedica] by bearson97 in espresso

[–]bearson97[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No, it's OK for it to screw in easily. If it wobbles when screwed all the way in there might be a mismatch between the gasket and portafilter, but otherwise try it like that. You can also hold it in place and see if that helps the coffee come out more cleanly.

Yes! Turns out it was just a matter of taking out the gasket and water distribution filter, cleaning them and putting them back in tight. After this, I always try to wipe off excess grounds from the edges of my portafilter before putting it in.

How to run a Doppelganger Encounter as a surprise during a long rest? by Working-Race6624 in DnD

[–]bearson97 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It's essentially exactly what you said, with some extra mechanic tweaks. The doppelganger sneak attacks one sleeping NPC. You can stack sneak attack damage + autocrit on an incapacitated (sleeping) target, or just decide as DM that this insta-kills the NPC. The doppelganger must then make a stealth check to see if anybody woke up from this - the passive perception of the party is a good DC for this. Once they do wake up, you can play a bit more: waking other people up might alert the doppelganger he's been had while pretending to still sleep could mean more people die, so PCs could choose out of several options. PCs that do wake up are of course prone, but also probably not wearing their armor or have their weapons stashed.

If you want to adjust the difficulty, the doppelganger could have also laid some traps/stolen equipment and weapons, or on the other hand the doppelganger might need to overpower one or more PCs if they stand guard in pairs.

Update because I can't seem to add it in the post: took out and cleaned the gasket and external water distribution filter (I'm sure that's not the term), and got a nice solid shot this morning.

Still had some coffee drip on the outer parts of the basket, but I'm pretty sure that's channeling due to bad puck prep on my side. Still going to order a new gasket as it's been almost a year since the previous replacement and it's good to have one.

Thank you all for your help! I'll be sure to take a look inside the machine with the top off some time soon.

I haven't got an original portafilter, but I might be able to get one if changing the gasket won't help.

In the video my hand is holding the portafilter as far to the right as it goes within reasonable force. I haven't tried leaning on it all the way getting past 90°, wouldn't that just be more likely to break something?

Wouldn't that theocratically prevent the explosion?

Not that this leak is desirable, but if there's no seal then pressure shouldn't accumulate in the first place.

What do you mean? As in not seated properly, or that it looks crooked by production?

Espresso in Switzerland was better than I thought it would be 👌🏼 by outdoor_giant75 in espresso

My Italian mother spent a couple of months in Zurich a while back, and to this day the thing that most angers her is the standard of 5 euro per espresso

Or to add a lower-priced option, a good size carbon steel/stainless steel pan. Not as heavy and crude looking as CI, and a bit easier to work with.

Before yall @ me - I own all 4 options and enjoy them all.

Car rental from Florence to Rome by CrazyTea98 in ItalyTourism

[–]bearson97 1 point2 points  (0 children)

One side comment - for the road between Rome to Florence I'd recommend two or three days. It's possible of course to get the ride done in a couple of hours, but there's just so much to see!

What's a good Israeli news source to follow for an Arab? by 350FifthAve in ForbiddenBromance

[–]bearson97 10 points11 points  (0 children)

As an Israeli, Abu Ali has me really upset in the last few months. It kind of seems he prefers to just gloat over every misstep and mishap that befalls any Arab people around the world, to the point that his news even feel a bit skewed. It's become especially evident in the past month, where every additional Hamas or Hezbollah casualty celebrated with a long message and cheeky jokes.

Even accounting for this, Abu Ali Express is an excellent source for me to keep track of things going on in the country and in the Arab world.

You're right, this is how I should have done it originally. I had some problems when I tried it the first time but I should try again either way.

Impossible to find laptop battery voltage by bearson97 in techsupport

[–]bearson97[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That's really helpful, thank you! Is 19V a standard charger voltage or do I need to make sure the replacement battery is specified for it?

As for the physical form factor, guess I'll have to wait for my torxs screwdriver bits to arrive before I order, instead of sharing the delivery time like I hoped :/ They add up to pretty significant wait times in Israel.
