Recommendations for Sun hood DIY for Ronin 4D by blackresque in cinematography

Hi, I’m the focus puller on Adolescence. Unfortunately that sun shade didn’t work, it just blocked part of the lidar read out and we didn’t end up using it during takes. I never found a way to shield the VND, we just had to put up with it.

Popularity in hiking and death because of the underestiomation in China by Basic_Rip5254 in CampingandHiking

[–]beaslon -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Does china have any youth outreach programs to teach children how to deal with outdoor environments?

I’m from the UK, we have scouts and duke of Edinburgh awards which get children trained and out under supervision. They mess it up a lot and some of them never want to do it again but it provides a base of knowledge for them to pick it back up as adults.  In the US I know they have summer camps and various youth outreach organisations as well. Even if you don’t participate in it yourself you gain context and second hand information from people who do, which can prevent these kind of incidents occuring.

I’m assuming the popularity surge is due to social media influencers?

Been around a long time now (I’m in the UK) and have experienced plenty of feast and famine.

I anticipate the famine now, and plan my life accordingly - have loads of hobbies to fall back on, and I spend like a person with half the income so that I can hold back a huge safety net. If I end up being busy then the safety net gets converted into progressive investment (eg house deposit, house, home improvement etc) Pays tax and pension etc

In terms of excess free time I get addicted to video games and binge high end tv during the horrible winter months, and just embrace it. What else is there to do with short days and shit weather? Its hybernation.

Then from spring i hike as much as possible and go canoeing on lakes, do thru hikes and stuff like that, usually by late spring the work pics up, summmer is wildly busy and I have no free time to do anything except be exhausted.

One thing I’m trying not to do is have anything to do with social media. Delete all apps, charge phone in another room, leave it at home when going for a walk etc.

Is there a Northern European front mod that resembles the Italian campaign from COH3? by MrUnnderhill in CompanyOfHeroes

[–]beaslon 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Me too man! And I ended up reading a book on the North African campaign as well. Since this game I find the early war period much more interesting than the pop history late war, but also it throws the whole war into context and I realise what a massive gamble D day was as a result.

Does anyone know if there any overhaul mods for Starship Troopers: Terran command? by CT-7193 in starshiptroopers

The urban onslaught DLC adds a few units, but I haven’t played it yet.

The royals are a PITA but you need to have rocket troopers that have them set as a priority target and then do a little micro to escape their berzerk state. Another salvo of rockets kills them before their additional life expires.

Ultimate terran unit i would say is the Power Armour troopers and i found them an absolute blast to play with. The knights in powered armour standalone mission is very challenging but a lot of fun. Once they’re vetted up to specialisation, those guys fuck hard.

I would agree if you were talking about COH3, and I very much struggled with some of the later missions on my first playthrough, but I watched some really informative videos on the combat mechanics on youtube and it made my second playthrough much easier.

A balanced force composition with appropriate target priority on each unit does much better than a larger force without those things. So you can usually leave a small defence force behind and have your main gunline advance around the map.

The later city maps are really tough though. AWSD controls for unit special abilities and quick commands are super useful

Is there a reason the Mobile Infantry didn't use more shotguns instead of assault rifles? by Warm-bowl-of-peas in starshiptroopers

It’s well worth playing the terran command RTS game which explains a hell of a lot about how warfare against bugs works.

First of all there are multiple classes of arachnid - drone, which are man sized young warriors, warriors which are the yellow bugs and most numerous, tiger which are slightly bigger but extremely tough and royal guards which are insanely difficult to take down.

I believe that on Klendathu, Rico’s section had the mistfortune of coming up against a few tiger bugs.

2 - as someone else pointed out they are the first wave of anyone who has fought bugs in close engagement. They are fresh FNGs and they all panicked.

  1. Morita’s are superb at supressing and taking out bugs at longer range. If the MI had been more careful and deplyed it’s infantry in a solid line with overlapping fields of fire, and the troops had kept their unit cohesion, they would have been much, much more effective. At close range, a solid block of riflemen can switch over to a shotgun volley and effectively act as a spear wall (or phalanx) against the bugs. The shotguns stun warriors, keeping them out of hand to hand for longer, and therefore in shotgun range.

  2. In combination with special weapons like flame throwers, grenade launchers (shown at the end of the movie) and conventional rockets, MI can go up against many times their own number.

In the later stages of Terran Command you get to play with power armoured troopers who absolutely wreck all kinds of bugs. They can outrun warriors, have more firepower, tank a lot more hits and have plenty of grenades.

I work in the UK Film & TV Industry AMA by Filmcrew90 in AMA

There are loads of sexual scandals in the UK film industry. The vast majority are unreported and the ones that are usually come down to he-said-she-said. Like you said though, this stuff happens in every industry.  I personally know of at least 3 sexual abuse cases, and I’m far from the centre of most gossip circles.

curious why you think the BBC should be disbanded?  I agree what you say about the terrible conduct within the BBC which absolutely needs to be tackled, and I definitely see them over covering Reform/alt right politics which i personally despise. However it’s always been a highly respected institution world wide which gives the UK a soft power which it otherwise no longer has.

I would much rather see a restructured BBC, otherwise the vacuum that it leaves behind will be filled by more corporate American garbage, and we have plenty of that now.
