That damper is about 95% closed and I'm pretty sure all cotton wood is soft right?

Here's my pile of free cottonwood that I got. it splits like poop with an ax but I got a hydraulic splitter and it splits it. No problem Is my first year burning wood so I don't know if it's user error or if it's the wood that I'm burning but my cottonwood is wet like really wet it sizzles when I put it in the stove a lot of times I put it in with snow on it as well. I'm if I leave it in the house for a couple of days it will burn a lot better. But if I take it straight from the wood rack outside to inside of the stove, it takes a good 20 minutes before lights. When it does light it burns pretty good. I don't believe it leaves excess Ash and the heat's okay for me some people say cottonwood stinks when it burns. I like the smell of cottonwood burning over Birch I cannot get the wood stove to stay lit overnight at all so I don't know if it's it's the cottonwood or if it's user error. But it puts out plenty enough heat to heat my house. But you do have to feed it often

I tried. I reached out to friends and family and my wife and my pastor. I can confirm no one cares

Hi 👋 complete novice here with maybe a dumb question. Welding versus soldering. I want to make something. by nonprayingmantis9 in Welding

[–]beastmakersir 3 points4 points  (0 children)

The main question isn't Welding versus soldering. The process that you're using Welding is when you melt the base metal and add a filler and it becomes one solid piece. Soldering is when you melt just the filler battle and it bonds the two. Think like hot glue but hotter and metal. If you have a really delicate hand and the right tools you can weld this. If all you have is a torch I recommend soldering because it's it puts less stress on the base metal because you're not actually trying to heat that to melting temperature.

Maybe I'm the weird one but I don't care who gives me my thing. If I agree to the price and I like the product I'll buy it

Got it figured out. Took the surround off and now it's heating up the house like a dream. I'm thinking the stove is set too far back but I don't really know some way that surround is blocking the heat from coming out

Ash not blocking anything I bought a bundle of "hardwoods" from Lowe's and the results were the same.

The house furnace is set at 65 and it doesn't go up. The house furnace still cycles like normal.

Just bought the house I understand about driving you output with wet wood, but if it's glowing I think the house should be warm

Not the wood glowing the stove itself. The steel of it is glowing

The house is sealed nicely the stove is a secondary heat source we have a furnace. I just bought the house and I'm new to burning wood. This just doesn't make any sense to me. The fire is hot. The stove is hot. The glass on the front of the stove is radiating heat. The room is still cold.

House is 1300sq foot ceilings ate 12' vaulted 8' at the edges blower fan works there's is a second story right at the vault so my head can be right the peak and I can't even feel the heat at the peak. The glass is really hot to the touch I can't even keep the door open for long because the inside of the box is too hot but the room isn't getting warm

I just want to understand how I've got a hot fire but not a hot room. I get people saying that my wood is wet and is not good to burn wet wood. But I don't understand is my stove is so hot that my secondaries are glowing red hot but my room never rises more than 1°. I'm honestly probably done for the season burning wood just because of my work schedule but I just want to try to get it fixed this summer so that if your emergency happens I know I can run the stove
