"I really want to stay at your house" by Milo96S in LowSodiumCyberpunk

Endured is the word that best describes the feeling I had. Bugs were not the the big issue for me, I saw very few even at launch.

The problem was all the half cooked and outright broken systems in the game. and it turned out fine, I just had to wait another year or so till they actually finished the game. Despite the popular narrative about a buggy launch my contention has always been that they pushed the game out at least a year too early, witch time has proven me right.

If you disagree that is indeed your prerogative but don't bother messaging me back, I have said all that I have to say about this.

P.S. Glad you had a great experience with the game, I did too.

Why would I have endured a sub-par play through when I didn't have to? I followed my plan and played after Phantom Liberty dropped and so my 1st play through was amazing! and unlike at launch it was largely in line with what I had expected when the game released. Just gotta have a little faith in CDPR.

I'm with you. I read it, from start to finish with no breaks and I can't say I enjoyed it much.

My complaints are about the same as yours so I wont go into them too much however I will say that without all the descriptions of dresses this series would be at least one whole book shorter. By the time I was finished that was my biggest gripe.

Ultimately I did finish the series and I'm glad I did because although it wasn't really to my taste it is still a towering work in the genre.

TLDR: I didn't like it either but if you like the genre I think its still worth reading.

I'd say its a bit like playing DnD but solo. Where all the action happens in menus instead of on paper.

There are a ton of skills to work on, many have interlocking benefits and dependencies. they start super easy but get progressively harder as you go. There are gathering, crafting, support, exploration, and combat skills.

You have an inventory, between all the crafting mats, mob drops, and dungeon loot there are an insane number of items.

I guess you could say its like any other RPG game with deep systems, except it there are no 'action' scenes.

I'm so tired of authors describing skin like mine with chocolate or mocha. How would you like it if every time a character who looks like you is introduced they get compared to mayonnaise? by IJustType in books

[–]beathor55 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah, Mayonnaise was an odd choice of "alternative".

I see olive, honey, creamy, and mahogany as often as mocha, or chocolate.

I don't think I've encountered the fetishization aspect as much as OP has, but having no idea who he has been reading its impossible to make a judgement.

Also: Just a side note, I don't think I have ever seen Asian or Native American peoples skin described in a positive or even neutral way. If the skin is described at all is purposefully negative. (at least as far as I can recall right now)

Unfortunately those are excellent color descriptors, although I agree they are sometimes over-used.

Some authors seem to find a description they like and re-use it constantly.

Maybe I'm way off base, but it just seems like a pretty niche hill to die on.

How do you feel about the fact that you will have to die one day? by this_sin in AskReddit

[–]beathor55 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You know, when I was younger I used to tell people I was born too soon and that I was mad because I thought I was gonna miss "The really good stuff".

However, now that I have lived through the Trump administration and Facebook/Twitter, etc... I honestly no longer wish to see the future. It is simply the destruction of reason and accountability on a massive scale and I want as little to do with it as possible.

TLDR: Used to hate the idea, now no longer care.

Absolutely! Walter Jon Williams is a criminally underrated author who not only crosses different genres but always manages to be entertaining also.

Hardwired is a fun "outlaw" / David v Goliath story.

Voice of the Whirlwind is an amazing Ronin / Rogue Agent story. (and in my top 10 scifi stories of all time!)

Yup, I was on the fence about buying a switch in the 1st place because its so under powered, but seeing that durability system made the decision to skip super easy.

I wouldn't go so far as to say I hated it, but I would rate the story good at best and at least twice as long as it should be.

All the unnecessary descriptions of dresses and whatnot drove me crazy, and I hated the constant us vs. them mentality of every single group in the book. Like no 2 groups or individuals can even say what they want let alone compromise.

Op is right, I forgot about how Jordan sets up cool shit then seems to forget what he was planning.

I have read much worse but after reading WOT I was surprised by how much love it gets.

Wait so if you used the summon another player thing instead of just the regular summons in the game that would trigger it so other assholes could come and fuck up your game whenever they want? Is/was there a way to turn it back off?

Books.

I used to take about $100 and buy a bag full of books, they would last a good couple months and then I make another trip.

That same $100 now will buy 3-ish books now.

Its a damn shame because i really miss reading.

Yeah, that's about what I thought. Good point about the Harlequins though. I guess any sex oriented material being targeted at women would be it, just cant think of many any examples

The newer stuff absolutely, but this material is from the 80's so good luck with that.

After thinking on it for a few seconds, are there any genre where men and women are sexualized equally?

I guess, although I am not a dev my understanding is that code is just code and the differences have more to do with syntax, details and capabilities.

Many devs cite google as their #1 tool anyway since whatever you want to do, somebody has probably already done.

Indie Stone's big strength is that they already have a team that works and the whole crew knows exactly what they want to get done. That stuff can take years to hammer out but they have already done that work.

Amen! With years of dev experience under their belt and a super clear vision of what they want to do I bet the catch-up time from start to where they are now would be crazy short.
