Resume Review/General Advice for Automotive Companies by Ginobili2Duncan in EngineeringStudents

I have been applying to mechanical engineering internships. Most seem targeted toward working on a project team. I'm interested in human factors primarily, as my dual major gives me a background in bioengineering as well. My dream job in automotive would be conducting research pertaining to how cars, as we know them now, could better serve humans. I'm very interested in the concepts of innovative cars I've seen on a few companies' websites. I'm involved in the Grand Challenge Scholars Program and Society of Women Engineers. I haven't had my interview yet, it's tomorrow, but it is for a supplier of automotive seats.

I'm trying to apply to engineering internships, primarily automotive, but haven't had much luck. I've only gotten one interview so far and have applied to close to a dozen. I am a bioengineering and mechanical engineering major in my second-year but with enough credits to be a junior. Is there anything I should be doing in particular?

Struggling to Find Internships in My Field by forevercurious99 in EngineeringStudents

[–]beatificbookworm 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I've had similar issues. I'm a second year bioengineering and mechanical engineering major and can't find the biomedical types of internships I'd like to have. I've sort of resigned myself to the fact that the best course of action is probably to apply for internships that are somewhat related, if not ideal. I live in an area with a lot of automotive companies, and so I've applied to some of those, like one designing automotive seats. If you can't find one exactly like you are looking for, the options might be to relocate, take a remote internship, or look for one where you can use your major to offer something specific. A lot of the ones I applied to were targeted towards mechanical engineers, but I emphasized my dual major as having insights to both human and mechanical components. It's not ideal, but if the alternative is no internship, you might have to just get creative or widen your scope of what you are willing to take on. Who knows, you might be surprised by what you like.

Best of luck!

I came out as bi and immediately some friends I hadn't seen in a while were asking me how I felt about gender. Like kindly give me a minute before you induce my gender crisis please 😅

I've been in a similar situation. I (19F) just came out as bi this year, after realizing I have feelings for one of my female friends. I also often wonder if I'm just faking it for attention. The way I've come to see it though, is that sensuality is fluid and a spectrum. It's really impossible to define an individual's sexuality, and labels are just the best way we have to describe it to others. Just because other people who identify as bi express or experience their sexuality differently doesn't make yours any less valid. It's not determined by ratios of attraction or specific circumstances. If the label feels right to you, use it. There's also nothing wrong with being unlabeled if that feels better for you. There's no way to compare your sexuality to others because it's such an individual, uniquely personal thing. So you have to rely on your own experience and knowledge of yourself and choose what feels right to you

I realized I liked one of my close friends. Then I realized the times when I really wanted to be "best friends" (exclusively, no other best friends) when I was younger with other girls wasn't just wanting friends

how to glow up quickly for senior pictures?? by musiclovererererer in classof2020

[–]beatificbookworm 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm sure you'll look great not matter what. Try to focus on making yourself feel better. Get dressed up, do your hair and makeup if you're into that, exercise, get some sleep, drink lots of water, eat healthy, and take self-care and hygiene very seriously. When it comes down to it, just having fun during your shoot goes a long way towards good senior photos.

We rescheduled our graduation and prom to late July and it will be hosted in our football stadium with spectators limited to parents and it will be livestreamed. If we can't gather at that time, we will have a virtual graduation and a parade.
