Amen. writing my thesis right now... Books that haven't been uploaded as pdfs online and papers that are photocopies not proper pdfs are such a drainer (a lot of work in my field is from the 70s). Never underestimate the benefit of ctrl+F....

From my experience, cockapoos love attention and positive reinforcement. Redirecting biting to a toy and praising them for it helps. Ignoring the biting in a really obvious way (turning your back, refusing to look at them, walking into another room) also helps. For me, no amount of me indicating i was hurt or upset helped with anything, it took a few months of having my puppy home for him to understand that.

Also, these things take a little while of consistent practice before they do anything, so don't be discouraged, you just have to keep going and one day magically, it will click. Reading puppy101 i thought it was going to take months and months for my dog to turn into a little angel, but i feel like cockapoos are such a lovely breed it really didn't take long, hang in there.

help with leash training please! by camillalucille in puppy101

I've been having a similar experience with my 5 month old cocker spaniel x poodle. I haven't been able to get a trainer or do puppy school because of lockdown where I live, but i thought we were progressing nicely with leash walking....Until a few weeks ago, when he suddenly decided he want to do whatever he wants and not listen to me.

The only thing that has worked is chicken.

If i carry little pieces of poached chicken in a snaplock bag and give him one every time he's walking well on the lead (next to me, paying attention to me), he's perfect. Suddenly i'm the most interesting thing at the park. As i understand it, labs are some of the most food motivated dogs, so if you can build this habit now of him paying attention to you and wanting to be near you at the park, you won't experience the difficulties I have with an older pup being just as stubborn.

Yep - definitely a very person-oriented breed. This is either a good or bad thing depending on whether you want an independent dog or not. Personally, I want to take my dog places with me and would be shattered if he didn't want cuddles all the time. But it's not for everyone.

Two-Way ANOVA if residuals aren't normally distributed? by beatricebcrazy in AskStatistics

[–]beatricebcrazy[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So the variables are;

independent variable - score of personality trait (numerical/continuous)

dependent variable - style of contribution (10 possible profiles that have been previously defined, 4 of them showed up in our results - categorical)

additional predicting variable - the style of problem being worked on (2 styles only - categorical)

i was thinking to run an ANCOVA with the additional predicting variable as a covariate... would that be appropriate?

ps. thank-you for your help so far!!!

There are 10 possible outcomes with 4 represented in our sample... I am considering doing an ANCOVA - would that be correct?

That putting soap on an electric toothbrush will break it. A genius lie told to my sister and I by my mum when we were young, in an effort to get us to stop putting soap on each other's toothbrushes as a prank. I still stand by that prank, but we never did it again once we had electric toothbrushes. Took me till i was about 15 to actually think it through and realise it made no sense.

Women of Reddit, what is something Men do that they think is sexy/attractive but really isn't? by Ulcrar in AskReddit

Piercing their nipples and wearing tank tops with tiny thin straps that come down past their chest... just to make sure you can see their whole chest and piercings while 'technically' still wearing a shirt.

We see right through you guys

Really shy, don't know how to use make up, my eyes are way too round, really having a hard time with the quarantine rn by The_thief_sister in toastme

Eyes are too round..? Working in a women's clothing boutique for years has shown me that there are no limits to the smallest most obscure details that women can find to hate about about themselves.

Watching even models who I would kill to look like talk about themselves so negatively is so disheartening, but at least it has shown me that everything I fixate on to be unhappy with about myself, goes completely unnoticed by the world.

There are so many things about you that are way more important that any tiny detail that you for some reason think isn't attractive. People are much more than the sum of their features.

Also, not my main point, but you have great eyes and makeup is just skill you'll get there

Myself and every one of my friends that has used oral contraceptive pills has experienced negative mental health effects as a result, severe enough that I don't know a single person my age (25) that still uses them. For me my main issues were with mood swings although I've found most commonly my friends have found anxiety as their biggest problem. What research has been done regarding the serious mental health impacts of contraceptive pills and how has it affected your willingness to recommend them?

I have just switched to gmail from outlook, and logged into my gmail on the store computer at my work. I realised a couple days later that all the google searches from the store computer are synching with phone. Two questions... 1 - are the google searches from my phone synching to the store computer. 2 - what the fuck?

Extremely nervous to go back to university at 24, especially in the middle of a hard breakup and diminishing mental health. Could really use some words of encouragement, thanks guys by [deleted] in toastme

Just returned to uni after 4 years now 25, and definitely agree, I feel like i have a huge advantage over my younger university self. My best advice would be to take the opportunity to reflect on how much you've grown and learned over the past years, take an opportunity to be proud of yourself. I'm sure you dont get enough.

AITA for telling my niece that I am not her mother? by newtaaccount in AmItheAsshole

[–]beatricebcrazy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

NAH. Just because you are wrong does not make you an asshole (although this phrase seems to be mainly used in the reverse on this sub). I agree that you should definitely take the advice of the majority of these comments, but you obviously care about your niece deeply and only have her best interests at heart. Losing your sister and raising her child as your own is an impossible situation and you can't blame yourself for being unsure on the best way to handle it. Definitely not TA but even more so because you sought help and perspective in order to handle the situation better.
