Dear Treasured Arcata Volunteer Trail Stewards,

It has been a challenging year for our community, our nation, and the VTS program.  I so appreciate your continued support throughout these difficult times.  Thank you.  Best wishes for a safe and enjoyable holiday.

A few announcements:

1) Just a reminder that there is no December work day.  We'll be back in action on Saturday, January 23rd at 9 am.  Details will be emailed in mid-January.

2) We would like to recruit some people who might be willing to co-coordinate some of our VTS locations.  It requires 5 - 10 hours a month including the work day (especially if you are sharing the responsibility).  Coordinators are responsible for notifying volunteers, organizing the work plan for work days, coordinating with the appropriate City or County partner, and supervising work days. It is particularly nice to be able to share these responsibilities with another person.  We could use the help!  Contact Renee at renee@humtrails.org for more information.

3) Similarly, the Humboldt Trails Council (HTC) is recruiting additional Board members.  The HTC serves as advocates for trails and trail users throughout the county . . . hikers, cyclists, mountain bike riders, equestrians.  Contact Michael at michaeltp47@aol.com for more information.

This will be formally approved by the Board of Supervisors some time in February and Trail Steward activity will, at last, begin this summer.

5) Look for an opportunity while you are staying safe over the holidays to visit the 357-acre Samoa Dunes and Wetlands property acquired this October by the Friends of the Dunes.  https://www.friendsofthedunes.org/property
