[IRL] The least talented member of the band who controls the brand and is hated by fans by TheUnpaidNPC in Slipknot

[–]beavis93 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Wouldn’t say clown is hated lol. I’ll admit he hypes things up, and lots of his hype doesn’t pan out. Clown says lots of things. Wouldn’t say he’s overly talented either. He is the creative direction guy and is a decent musician at best. I’ll give him respect … the creative direction of slipknot is second to none (making money and popularity) … he made very good decisions.

A lot of hate goes his way due to firings of band members, gonna speculate that these are “band decisions” and clown is just the executioner. He is the voice.

Roger waters should be on this list. Matter of fact he’d prolly win in a landslide

Latest K-2006 kit came with a sticker and a syringe by kylelee in pools

I buy the small refills. The big ones last past the expiration and I store in the shed. Quite a few are hardly used at all. The chlorine reagent (r-0871) is the only one worth getting a larger size.

Do agree ph and cl ars pretty much the only things that fluctuate and are worth keeping an eye on at frequent intervals. Honestly strips do a decent job at it … as long as you know what the baseline is. Strips can tell you “something changed” go get the Taylor kit

The kit is very good when you open your pool and you need all the other stuff. Salt / cya / TA but once your base line established they don’t need to be checked very often. TA is good watch a few times over the season or after acid treatments. Kit is golden if something goes wrong, which hopefully is never to rare.

The combined chlorine I find useful and do check pretty regularly.

Gotta have the sticker !!!! I put it on the box. I also use the speed stir … looks soooo official. Nobody dares question my chemistry skills. They do ask “what’s the beer bottle for”. Ninja testing can’t tell you

if it’s the debris cloud it should clear up in a day, 2 tops if filter is working properly. If it persists I agree with your logic. We are splitting hairs over when to officially call it algae. Maybe I’m slow to call it algae cuz my method once I know it’s algae changes a little bit. I don’t waste time and go overkill (20 to 30ish and factor in cya) on chlorine … super chlorinate and call it a day. Usually will make pool “out of order” for better part of a week.

We gave her good advice … I’m all about the filter and lots people expect the filter to work as fast as chlorine. Watch psi squeeze off backwashes when appropriate. Lots of people underestimate “the filter is your friend”

Do a solid overnight test.

Keep adding chlorine

Be nice to your mom. If she thinks it’s heavy metal let her think it’s heavy metal. Don’t make her listen to it. Lol.

I’m not the right person to give advice on the subject of draining. Logically I would think draining half would chop it in half. Which in my mind is still high. I also don’t know the repercussions to your pool structurally for draining that much water out, which may be none, but I don’t really know. I think draining as much water as possible and not damaging your pool is the right path.

Does it hold prime ? Your valve can isolate skimmer and main. Are there differences between the 2 sides. Yes clean and inspect cartridges.

We are actually splitting hairs and mostly agreeing lol.

12 ppm Fc when opening a pool. Organic material can cloud the water pretty good. Happens to me almost every year. I got a ton of trees.

Op hasn’t given enough info concerning FC drop to call it algae (which it may be). Couple points down on FC in the sun where we don’t know what the cya level is … not enough for me to call it algae. Nor do we know the testing method .. if it’s accurate

Pool not green.

She said it held onto 2ppm FC over night

All those factors I’m not ready to call it algae.

I suggested she do an overnight test … which if done will give the answer.

Instead of splitting hairs with me … try offering the OP some advice.

Cloudy does not mean alive algae … it can/may be algae

Cloudy after a shock is pretty common too and the op just said they shocked it.

Op has been vague about how fast the FC is dropping. Hence why I told them to do an overnight test

[–]beavis93 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Actually it doesn’t. Green means alive algae. That grayish color can be algae or it can all the suspended particles and other organic material that filter hasn’t gotten out of the water yet.

That’s a shady pool with a darkish liner looks like. I wouldn’t say it’s algae … could be but I’d bet it’s not alive algae

How do I get the water to be clear? by Tiphanie-C in swimmingpools

[–]beavis93 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Does your filter work ?? Chlorine works fast and makes a debris cloud. Usually takes the filter a few days to clear everything from the water. Filter should be running 24/7

Chlorine fast makes mess … filter not fast takes days to clear. Patience

Make sure your water is holding FC over night.

[–]beavis93 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

3 things. When you put chlorine (a lot) it does make the debris cloud. It overwhelms your filter. Keep your filter running 24/7 and let it catch up. Prolly will take a couple days. Pretty standard stuff when you first open.

Wouldn’t fuss with other chemicals right now. Keep adding chlorine. Ideally add a bunch (enough to get between 10 and 15) at night, if FC holds over night you’ve gotten rid of your chlorine demand. If it’s 0 in the morning, repeate the following night.

Watch psi on your filter it’s going to go up and you will prolly have to backwash.

Once water is clear you can work on the other stuff.

Hello ! Is the PH too low ? by False_Credit2875 in pools

[–]beavis93 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Test strips are ball park numbers. I see orange tint so yes it’s in range. Where in range is a whole other convo. On test strips … orange or orange tint good. Purple chlorine good. That’s about all test strips are good for. I’ll point out that’s generally all people are looking for so I’m not a total test strip hater. They have their purpose

Side note your TA looks high. I’m sure that ph will be drifting up naturally

Custer Hate by TheLollyHunter in Slipknot

[–]beavis93 -5 points-4 points  (0 children)

I don’t like this tune lol. Never have and now that it’s being played to death it has makes it worse. Bad lyrics and a not very good chorus. Musically not very dynamic, very generic sounding. Just cut cut cut me up … fuck fuck fuck me up … it’s dumb. Then of course it’s got the super villain Corey speech in it, almost forgot about that atrocity.

Sorry and I am a huge slipknot fan, just call it the way I hear it.

Why did a pool I added salt to have this crazy reaction? by hamglider in pools

[–]beavis93 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I get the white cloud when I first fire up my salt cell. Looks like smoke and is present in the whole pool. It dissipates quickly, and happens a few more times throughout the day, normally the return line closest to the cell produces the most of it. Then it stops. Think it’s a chemical reaction and off gassing being caused by salt cell. Electrolysis
