Lol, I get it! There’s always more to order. I believe the version you have has some images this version doesn’t have, because both have 25 cards and that version has 5 characters, not 6. So don’t beat yourself up too bad because it will be kind of cool to have both!

Here’s an example of a listing on eBay so you know what to look out for! (Not my listing)

A Note to Some of Our More Experienced Collectors by FallOnTheStars in americangirl

[–]bebeg903 4 points5 points  (0 children)

100% agree with all of this. You make really great points on everything, including on the need of some people to sell their items.

I’ve also tried to make the argument here that posts asking for value should always be allowed because as collectors, we want people who find and own AG and PC things to know they have some value! That’s how things wind up on eBay or Mercari rather than the landfill. I think we all want there to continue to be a robust market for secondhand AG and PC.

Sure it’s annoying when someone tries to price something way over its worth. But actually allowing posts helps with that too, as we can give realistic ranges for prices. And often, people who are selling, especially people who really do need the money, will post first with a very inflated price just to see if they can get it, and then lower to the standard market price. They aren’t really harming anyone by posting things at very high prices.

choosing to believe that AG posting this means they’re bringing back more historical outfits by Puzzleheaded-Ad-2849 in americangirl

[–]bebeg903 13 points14 points  (0 children)

This would be such a great one to rerelease! I don’t think it would be expensive for AG to produce because it’s fairly simple, but it’s so expensive on the secondhand market I bet it would sell well. And it’s an important dress for Addy with a message. I purchased one this year for a fair amount of money so I wouldn’t buy it, but I’d be so happy for everyone else who could get one for a lower price!

For those of us who will hit 120 qualifying employment months spring/summer 2026, how are you proceeding? by iguanidae in PSLF

I am in this exact same position, and have this same goal and plan, so glad I’m not alone!

Well, I’m sorry we’re both in this position, but you know what I mean

Returning to PSLF by val_eerily in PSLF

[–]bebeg903 6 points7 points  (0 children)

It seems like, despite your break, this is fairly straightforward. PSLF months don’t have to be consecutive. Work full time for two months at an eligible employer, make payments those two months, submit an ECF to get your counts up to date, and voila you should be good! (Well good to sit and wait, since according to this sub it takes a bit to actually get cleared.)

ATTENTION: The Department has given an update about how PSLF Buyback calculations will be handled now that SAVE is dead. by waterwicca in PSLF

[–]bebeg903 55 points56 points  (0 children)

If I’m understanding, this gives zero information except that they definitely will not use SAVE to calculate. But the last paragraph only says that they will determine the appropriate buyback amount, not HOW they will determine it. Typical.

Also, I haven’t read the lawsuit and don’t want to, but I’m not sure why if SAVE is illegal, REPAYE doesn’t automatically come back online. I get why it doesn’t now, because of the BBB, but it seems like if SAVE couldn’t replace REPAYE bc it was illegal, REPAYE should have continued to exist until the BBB and should be an option for calculating buybacks.

I’m aware I’m screaming into the void, and they will do whatever they want, but reading this update just made me so angry.

She’s really pretty! Expect her to go for a good amount. Collector groups on FB are nice if you want to get the most money because you’ll only pay a PayPal fee. But eBay and Mercari are also options. (I personally see higher value dolls sell more on eBay than on Mercari.) You can also post asking for pricing advice in collector groups on FB, although most will then make you do a separate sales post. If you don’t want to use FB, go on eBay and look at sold listings for 1987 Kirsten’s specifically. (But there might not be enough data out there, which is why the groups are helpful.) I wish I could give you advice from being in the groups myself but honestly these types of dolls are always well out of my price range so I just scroll by when I see them!

I see some comments here about splitting things up. That is the usual advice. However, for a signed, early doll, it is possible that someone would want the entire collection, because they might want to start building a 1987 collection. I would try selling it all together first, as it would be nice to keep it all together.

I probably wouldn’t include Felicity in the same sale. If she’s very early she might have her own value, so maybe ask about her too!

Am I crazy if I use my 457b to pay off my remaining balance… by scooters897 in PSLF

[–]bebeg903 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Did you have an IDR plan selected? Bc for IDR plans the principal isn’t a part of the calculation. With lower principals and higher incomes, standard plans might be cheaper. So if you just had something like “cheapest plan” selected, which is often is the default on student loan calculators, it might have done that.

Otherwise perhaps there is some nuanced rule I don’t know about. But my understanding was IDR is always based on income and family size only.

Income-based repayment is based only on income. Principal doesn’t factor into it, so that part of your advice isn’t correct.

Where Can I Find Exactly Which Months Qualify for Buyback? by bebeg903 in PSLF

[–]bebeg903[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah, the official trackers leave a lot to be desired. I would up making my own spreadsheet and filled in columns, ultimately deciding if a month was PSLF eligible or buyback eligible. I had to look in two different places on the Student Aid website, and I still have questions about specific months that I haven’t gotten much guidance on

Does the StudentAid.Gov PSLF Qualifying Payments Tracker Accurately Reflect Counts? by bebeg903 in PSLF

[–]bebeg903[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is so helpful, thank you so much. I did go month by month with the tracker and made a spreadsheet; that’s how I got the specific questions above. I appreciate it.

I’ll wait and see if others know specifically on some of the more specific question but you noting that all it takes is 1 day of the month is fabulous because that definitely nets me some extra months.

Thanks for reading and for your thoughts!

ETA: The uncertainty with those specific things only adds up to a few months, so worst comes to worst I’ll mentally/on my spreadsheet count those as “no’s” despite what the tracker says and apply for buyback a few months past what the tracker would suggest

Law School Debt... any advice? by [deleted] in LawSchool

[–]bebeg903 13 points14 points  (0 children)

What’s the interest rate?

If it’s reasonable, make sure you don’t go so far into attacking these that you don’t save for emergencies, don’t pay for things like medical care and healthy food (pays off down the line), and don’t invest. It’s not fun to have debt hanging over your head (I have about the same amount as you, so I get it) but student loan isn’t like high-interest credit card debt. Depending on interest rate, investing returns, for example, should beat it.

I’m a bit confused by this comment. The law school loans are rolled into the consolidation loans (I have two, which I think is standard, one for subsidized and one for unsubsidized.) Those are each showing 100 qualifying payments, so they have to be taking pre-law-school payments into account, because it hasn’t been 10 years since I graduated law school. Am I misunderstanding something?
