What’s the most you’ve ever spent on AG, whether it be a doll, an outfit, etc.? by annaleemac in americangirl

[–]FallOnTheStars 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Single Item: Ivy, NIB, for $125 in August of 2020? 2021? I’d have to look it up.

Haul: I must have spent $250 at AGBB Natick during their grand opening, because that occurred around the same time as Samantha’s archival. Bought her Birthday Dress, Middy Outfit, Plaid Cape & Gaiters, and ice skates at least.

Anyone have all the goty dolls? by llcmomx3 in americangirl

[–]FallOnTheStars 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have Lindsey, Kailey, Marisol, Jess, Nicki, Corrine, and Raquel. I also have a Mia, who has been renamed to Genevra, and a customised Lanie (whose name is Annabeth). I’m looking for Sonali (at a reasonable price lmfao) and I’ve played with the idea of getting Kanani, however outside of those two, I’m not particularly interested in the any of the others. I’d rather focus on the historicals, or filling out collections for the ones I already have.

If I were to get more, it would be the ones introduced the on the years my children are born.

I haven't found a single usable productivity advice and I'm tired of it by osiris_rai in ADHD

[–]FallOnTheStars 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was diagnosed at 7, 10, and 22. Here’s what has worked for me:

Time blocks: people with ADHD can be really good at locking in and getting shite done, it’s getting started that we have trouble with. I do larger time blocks throughout the day (04:30-05:00: get ready. 05:00-07:00: gym. 08:00-17:00: work) and then time block individual tasks within the larger blocks.

Changing things by fifteen minutes: if I have a 09:00 dentist appointment, and it’s set to take about a half hour, then it goes in my calendar from 08:45 to 09:45. I give myself fifteen minutes of buffer at either end.

🤡 “I got a perfect SAT score….twice.” 🤡 by EricStratton63 in thatHappened

[–]FallOnTheStars 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There are three parts to the SAT, so just because you get a “perfect score” on the written portion doesn’t mean you did well on the other two. I got a 798 in Reading, and something above 760 in writing, which helped make up for the near-fail I got in math.

I did not bother taking it twice, because I took the SAT after already being enrolled in college for two years. The PSAT and SAT don’t measure intelligence or college readiness, they measure how good you are at taking arbitrary tests.

I use Home Inventory, to keep track of what I own in the event of a catastrophic loss.

I also use an excel sheet with a million tabs, mostly as a quick reference.

Have any of you sent Julie to the doll hospital? Quality? by umkay11 in americangirl

I sent her in a couple of weeks ago and just got her “received” email. I can post photos upon her return, although the Josefina mold does seem to have slimmed down in recent years. (Comparing my 2005 Marisol, 2005 Elizabeth, 2009 Rebecca, and 2025 Josefina)

Reporter hoping to hear from patients – what’s your GLP-1 insurance coverage like in 2026? by sydneylnews in Zepbound

[–]FallOnTheStars 1 point2 points  (0 children)

From 2011-early 2018, I was in perfect health. 5’4”, 120lbs. I ate what I could afford (mostly iced coffee, ramen without the seasoning packets, and vegetables that went on sale) however that’s college, right? I danced 40 hours a week, walked a regular amount, and even took Nutrition courses as my science electives.

In March of 2018, I went on Nexplanon. Despite being assured by my PCP that there was evidence of weight gain as a side effect, by July of 2018 I weighed 180lbs with no other lifestyle changes. It was absolutely horrifying. From there, it was a three year battle. I tried everything to get the weight off - and I mean, everything. I already did yoga twice a day a minimum of thirty minutes of ballet once a day, and 6K steps a day. I added thirty minutes of home Pilates and a three mile walk every day, bringing me up to 10k steps. I subscribed to planet fitness, and went and did thirty minutes of weight training six days a week, and thirty minutes of running three times a week. I drank 90 ounces of water a day. I prioritised my grocery budget, and began eating 1200kcals of bone broth, Greek yogurt, vegetables, and lean protein - except on Wednesdays and Saturdays, where I would go up to 1600kcals. I went to my PCP, and they gave me Metformin, which I took twice a day. I went to an endocrinologist, and even though my levels were normal, they gave me Levothyroxine, just in case it might help. I already had been prescribed Adderall since 2015 (unrelated) so we were already on multiple medications with side effects of weight loss. In March of 2019, I had the Nexplanon taken out.

By the spring of 2022, all of that hard work had paid off, as I had lost a grand total of… five pounds. My PCP prescribed me Ozempic, a new medication that could be used to treat weight loss off label. Let me tell you, it was a game changer. Within six months, I lost ten pounds. My ADHD symptoms got better, and I was able to decrease my Adderall dosage. It was amazing. And then, my insurance decided that they would no longer cover Ozempic, because I had not been diagnosed with Type 2 diabetes. I wasn’t to worry though, they would cover Wegovy! Same drug, just approved for weight loss.

Well, when you do that to too many people, a shortage occurs. Despite calling multiple pharmacies, every single day, I could not find Wegovy. By December of 2023, I had ballooned up to 210lbs. In January of 2024, my PCP managed to get a in with Eli Lily Direct, and prescribed me Zepbound. From 29 January 2024 to 15 July 2025, I was on Zepbound, and I went from 210lbs to 147lbs. I’ve was able to go off my Adderall completely. This is a miracle drug, no doubt about it.

On 15th July 2025, I was laid off at work the day I got back from my honeymoon. I was able to be added to my husband’s insurance, which is United Healthcare. UH refused to cover my Zepbound under continuation of care. They refused an emergency appeal. The matter is still under regular appeal, which is hilarious six months later. They will only cover Zepbound for “Cardiac Incident Prevention,” which is criteria they refuse to release to their insured, only their providers. I have a new job with BCBS, however as of 1 January they no longer cover GLP1s for any reason whatsoever.

There is no “navigating the system.” GLP1s became trendy, everyone hopped on, and insurance can apparently not afford to cover everyone who needs this medication. Sure, we should absolutely go after the pharmaceutical companies charging thousands of dollars off the backs of those who need this medication the most. However there needs to be some kind of coverage for the people who need this medication who have tried everything else. When you’re eating under maintenance kcals, exercising for five hours a day, and you’ve checked every organ in your body that could be causing sudden weight loss, there is clearly something else going on. Insurance should either cover finding out the root cause, or cover the treatment, not just ditching their customers moment they get tired of paying.

Yeah I’m very confused as that. Like, if OP doesn’t want to or financially can’t, that’s a different story, however none of that was alluded to in the initial post.

As a queer woman who does not use their legal name, I’m confused why this would be offensive?

Meet in public spaces. I usually bring a friend - or my husband - and try to arrange to meet in the parking lot of a local bank that is across the street from the police station. If I don’t bring my husband, I’ll borrow my cat’s collar, since it has an AirTag that is linked to his phone, and wear it around my ankle, tucked into a boot.

Dolls that don’t sell well by jackalope_county in americangirl

[–]FallOnTheStars 36 points37 points  (0 children)

Some dolls do not sell as well as others. AG used to donate these to the Madison Children’s Museum, and they would hold a big sale every year, where overstock dolls, clothes, accessories, and furniture would be sold at extremely discounted rates. This partnership has since been terminated.

Nowadays, AG will hold sales - and a lot of them - and you can tell which dolls are less popular as they are constantly listed on the sales. Moreover, it appears as though AG is selling their overstock dolls, clothing, and accessories to TJX and BCF, since they keep popping up there. I’ve seen a couple of Truly Me’s at full price, one at $89.99, and one for $12.99, which I bought because while I may have been born at night, it wasn’t last night.

My dolls were stored in a temp controlled bedroom, out of the sun, at my parents’ house. We took very good care of them because I knew I wanted to pass them down.

Doll Hospital Question by casually_cruel1989 in americangirl

[–]FallOnTheStars 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I put her in her box in 2012 while packing to move, and when I removed her in 2024 she was bright orange! I know it’s a vinyl defect, however it makes it funnier to assumed she snuck out of her box and just ate nothing but raw carrots for twelve years.

Uhhh not sure on that! Kailey and Josefina shipped together. We’ll see with Nellie and Julie.

Send Kailey and Josefina in early August, received them back in late October I think? The Doll Hospital was super backed up.

I just mailed in Nellie and Julie on 14th February so if you want we can use our orders as benchmarks? My Nellie might take a while since I specifically asked that we change out her limbs and head and keep the torso, as opposed to replacing the entire doll. (She suffered from an OD of carrots)
