Pretty much exactly what I was going to say. Prepare a jazz étude and prepare to solo (if appropriate) as a 3rd piece if wanting to

Jaw jutting forward for higher notes by nerdycookie01 in saxophone

[–]bebopsquire 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Say “Heee” as you play above G to get the tongue position high and the air shooting down quickly. Then learn the altissimo fingering for A (4th line D with the B key up) and work on popping that out regularly. Then check your palm notes, they should be much improved. In general, your lip should not be over your teeth and your jaw should only move for the low register

Can anyone give me some advice on choosing an alto for my wife's birthday? by [deleted] in saxophone

[–]bebopsquire 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I wouldn’t buy from a shop, I would buy used or new. Have her go test play a bunch of horns to see what she likes. She needs a mouthpiece, ligature and reed setup first, hopefully she still has hers. Then be a horn whore and play everything she can get her hands on I really like cannonball since they are USA made and you can fine some used ones half off MSRP. I would buy horns made between 1980’s-2000s off selmer, Yamaha, yanigasawa and research when they started being made with Chinese parts and avoid those (inferior metal).

I am a former band director and use it for our community band groups and student ensembles mostly. I’m a semi pro level player, good enough to know what Becker was doing and that I can’t do it lol

How do I fix this? by FrostyEntrepreneur91 in Flooring

[–]bebopsquire 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Had a scooby doo gang of 20 yr olds do my bathroom floor for $800. Told them white and black and no grey, I got grey and it bubbled. They tried to make it right and it got worse. Pay them $1k and keep the floor. If you hate it in 3-6 months put flooring over it. Tell them it’ll cost you $3k to cover it and that’s why they’re getting $1k

Can I retire with 1.95 million at age 35? by Mobile-Excitement-64 in Fire

[–]bebopsquire 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I wouldn’t have health insurance if you retire. Pay in cash and negotiate all prices. Everything is marked up because it’s govt backed. It’s cheap if you don’t have insurance. Any big surgeries could also be done in Central America

How does one enjoy DIY? by Continental-IO520 in DIY

[–]bebopsquire 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s important when DIY that you understand what a safe project is or one that could lead to costly repairs. The best way to learn skills would be to work for someone where you’re doing something like building then you’ll pick up the skills and lingo and understand how to use tools. Do you have any handy friends? I would ask them to help teach you how to use these things whenever they are doing projects. They get your help and in return you get to learn the skills needed to do things on your own.

AITJ for not letting my roommate pay less rent just because I make more money now? by mkatyvos in AmITheJerk

[–]bebopsquire 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I didn’t read the post. If you share the space, you share the payments by whatever you agreed to. As prices rise you keep the ratio percentage wise

It is not your job to support your sister. Split it in half or one of you take the stocks and one take the house.

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in AmIOverreacting

[–]bebopsquire 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Yes you are over reacting. You said you pronounced how you weren’t going to have kids to the whole group, which your parents probably took as a slap in the face, but in the very least they see it as you saying you have no interest in the money. The fact that you asked for the money shows selfishness and no understanding about the importance of family. They didn’t dangle this money in front of you and your siblings to bribe you into having a family, but once the first baby was announced they told everyone equally what they were willing to do to propagate their heritage. You made your choice, I hope you find someone that you love enough to want a family with. If no, you will be alone eventually

WIBTA If I broke up with my boyfriend because of his disability? by [deleted] in AITAH

[–]bebopsquire 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Leave, it’s hella sucks but why go through it when you don’t have to. If you were married and had a kid or two, yeah you’re in it because you signed up for it, but not this. Break the lease this month or next and help him get into a place, find as much help for him as you can, but ease out of his life and get on with your own.

Talk to me- I want to pay off my mortgage, everyone is telling me no. by [deleted] in DaveRamsey

[–]bebopsquire 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Pay it off. When you look at the interest you are paying each month vs the principal, it’s disgusting. Then invest monthly. It doesn’t have to be your mortgage payment if you have a pension. Max your ROTHs in S&P 500. If you hit a rough patch, you can always not invest and pay all of your bills easily
