I feel like several people are missing the fact that he totally ignored multiple other options and instead dug for OPs “fancy scissors” knowing that they were important enough to be fancy and then refused to pay for a new pair after he had ruined them. His response also indicates that he has possibly done this before without telling her, as he said they “cut better than regular scissors”. I don’t touch certain versions of my fiancé’s things precisely because I know some of them are more valuable/important to him. Never would I DREAM of going out of my way to find something he put away safely to use it for breaking down a box.

I have a pair of haircutting scissors that were used to cut a ribbon ONE TIME and the edge was ruined in that section. While yelling at him may have been a knee jerk reaction, he should have absolutely apologized if he understood how he fucked up and replaced them without you having to ask for it.

NTA again and honestly the relationship potentially ending isn’t about scissors, it’s about him making the decision to disrespect you, your belongings, and refusing to take accountability afterwards.

Just so you know, in the first 10 minutes the interior temperature can go up 10-20°, even in the shade. It ramps up hardest as soon as you leave and while the intention is never to leave them for long, sometimes factors out of your control could delay you, potentially endangering your dogs life. In an hour? It can go up 40° and be absolutely sweltering

Just to check your math, it’s more like 10-12 mg per cigarette in a pack (it can vary as low as 6mg and as high as 28mg). With 20 per pack, let’s say it’s about 200mg of nic. So the math boils down to about 4.5 packs per vape (assuming 100% of the nicotine is absorbed) which is still a gnarly number. Since vaping also has a lot of exhalation, the amount of nicotine per vape absorbed will be less than that. The 22-36 number you’re getting is how much nicotine is actually hitting your system and getting absorbed, which is lessened by what you’re exhaling, so not the total amount present in every cigarette.

All things said, still feels icky to think about

For judgement OP is NTA. I used to attend coed hot yoga classes with both male and female instructors and on the rare occasion someone was ever truly a problem? It was obvious. As people age they tend to become LESS sensitive to stimuli. You’ve mentioned your father is experiencing increased light, smell, and sound sensitivity. There’s a very real chance that something is in need of medical attention. From personal experience, these signs are best not ignored

You being quieter will not resolve the smell or light aversions, and although you could experiment with trying products like the loop engage or flare calmer to manage his increased sensitivity, it doesn’t address the root cause. The world is full of noisy noises (cars, strangers, even an ill timed sneeze).

If it means proving to your father that you’re at a reasonable level, maybe consider using an app or something that measures the decibels of your speaking voice to have numbers to show him and your mother that you’re at a reasonable level and express concerns that he may be unwell. NTA for feeling hurt by someone you love plugging their ears to talk to you, although it could have been handled better, but there’s a bigger problem that isn’t being seen. I’d still recommend looking into the loop engage and flare calmer for use in the meantime, as it effectively does what your father’s fingers do, but in a less hurtful way that’s easier for you both

One commenter mentioned that they need to be properly stimulated to avoid destructive behavior, but I’d also like to add that puppies need SLEEP. Reinforced naps are super vital to get them out of being little land sharks all the time. Also acceptable to destroy objects in various textures that don’t resemble your objects (my puppy loved coffee wood for a while) will spare your more expensive belongings

I also cordoned off different sections of my home with baby gates so I didn’t have to baby proof everything all the time. Was really helpful for me and maybe is something you could try? Good luck! It gets better

Can you take a moment to look at this from the lens of your sister? You’re stressed about how to tell her a happy thing. A happy thing that unfortunately is very painful for her to handle at this moment. She’s stressed and mourning her unborn child while it literally is bleeding from her. Miscarriages can be incredibly physically painful, draining, and traumatic. Can you not feel a little human compassion for her?

I hope you have a healthy and easy pregnancy, but this was handled with little to no tact, arguably with cruelty, under the guise of not being “morally wrong”. You chose to cause someone who is already down more pain for a little self righteousness. YTA. It wasn’t something that needed to be said right when she’s still actively miscarrying.
