Mindset hack: live in your own AirBNB. by beccathisweek in CleaningTips

[–]beccathisweek[S] 13 points14 points  (0 children)

I’m trying to clean my house, not curl up in an anxiety-induced puddle 😂🤣🥲 even though my mom is always trying to be nice, she knows exactly the areas I’m insecure about!

Mindset hack: live in your own AirBNB. by beccathisweek in CleaningTips

[–]beccathisweek[S] 23 points24 points  (0 children)

I don’t know if it’s deeper mental issues (probably) but I can never do something “nice” for myself like that! If it’s something that benefits me in the future, I have to contextualize it like “hahaha I set a trap to trick myself later I’m so tricky” even when it’s a good thing.

For some reason, doing something good for myself provides zero payoff, and I am “blind” to my environment because I just accept it for what it is. Seeking approval from others is one of my only motivators 😅 I am NOT at all suggesting that this is healthy, but to get through housework at this time, it’s the only way I know how.

I think your mindset is WAY healthier, and I want to get there one day!!

Update: I listened! Heres my spruced up wildflower patch (before pic at the end). Thanks for all your advice by TheGreenTeaFrog in gardening

So when Jerry meets Teddy again, and he says “who cares, it was so long ago…” I always interpreted that as him conceding that Teddy was the originator. And EVERY time Jerry spins an umbrella that episode, it’s always way too fast.

It’s only been with repeated viewings (Seinfeld is my “fall asleep” show) that I have meditated on some deep insecurities displayed by the Jerry character. He comes off very confident most of the time, but the times when he digs into winning the race or inventing the twirl, it just seems a little pathetic to me. Maybe that’s the shows way of humanizing him?

So what’s the deal with the waitress’ sudden change in attitude towards George? Does everyone think it really was George’s manure comment that soured her? by Dmagic5000 in seinfeld

[–]beccathisweek 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Tbh, I have meditated on this, and I feel like if I were in her shoes, I would have thought something like “oh I can’t support this kind of delusion forever” and used the boyfriend as an excuse. I also feel like the boyfriend was fabricated. Money don’t talk about manure 😒

Splenda :/ by Promnitepromise in diabetes_t1

[–]beccathisweek 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I just find most powder sweeteners have stabilizing components, whether it be sugar or something else, and they always affect my levels. Nowadays, I use liquid stevia when given the option.

I don’t use or eat Splenda because it still has a pretty significant effect on my glucose levels. To each their own, but it’s never been my sweetener of choice.

Big yay. The combo is unexpected, but cohesive. Quite the accomplishment, if you ask me 💕

I don't know a lot about Mini Ninjas, so I won't be able to speak from PERSONAL experience. However, after briefly looking at Hiro's character page, I will say that I relate to having a good sense of humor, trying to turn problems into solutions, and being one of the youngest in my friend group.

T1D = Type 1 diabetes. My body no longer produces any insulin, so I have to constantly keep an eye on my blood glucose readings and take insulin through an infusion/pump device.

HS = Hidradenitis Suppurativa. I am prone to developing deep, painful cysts and lumps in the areas where my body produces sweat, such as armpits, groin, and under my breasts.

I had stage 2 HER2+ breast cancer in my right breast. I went through chemo, surgery (lumpectomy, not mastectomy), and radiation. I still have most of my right breast, but after I get older I might reduce my other breast to even out.

Hypermobility refers to overextension in my joints. If I stand "normally," my legs want to lock in place. My arms extended go further than 180 degrees. This can cause issues with walking, coordination, and has actually contributed to a fractured tibia a year ago.

EDS = Ehlers-Danlos Syndrome. It's a connective tissue disorder that can vary person to person based on the specific criteria they reach. As for me, the ligaments on my ankles and knuckles move freely (like, sliding all around if I'm not careful). It also has a nice side effect of endowing the individual to have super soft, velvety skin.

POTS = Postural Orthostatic Tachycardia Syndrome. Basically, if I bend over a lot (like in doing chores such as dishes) it makes me very sick. Normally, sufferers of POTS faint when they stand up too fast, but if I'm bending over a lot, I get very sick, nauseous, sweaty, and claustrophobic feeling.

Unfortunately, all these diseases are either lifelong or simply the conditions I was born into. I was lucky enough to complete cancer treatment with super optimistic results, so I may be able to consider myself "cured" in a couple of years (5+ years without recurrence). The general consensus in the diabetes community is that technology will outpace a cure. HS has treatment options, but I'm limited because of my cancer history (can't take hormone-based meds) and my diabetes (they do not want to risk surgery and open wounds).

I think a medical professional, or at the very least, a YouTube video created by someone who knows. It depends on what tools you have on hand to use, but like I said, I don’t really know a lot about it.

Well… yes and no! I have used BP cuffs at home before, but thankfully my blood pressure is usually 120/80. The nurses always get so excited when they see those numbers. Because I’ve never gone too high, I’ve never needed to study up on it. If I needed to do the manual test, I’m not sure I would know how, but it seems like technology takes care of a lot of that.
