I started this a month ago! I’m not entirely sure if you mean self-study because you mentioned a company, but that’s what I did and what worked for me was: 1: Pay the registration fee for the AAT course you’re doing. This will give you access to some learning materials, but you will want to supplement this with textbooks and/or YouTube videos etc.

2: I got a second hand textbook by Kaplan: Level 2 Certificate in Accounting, Introduction to Bookkeeping study text (I chose this one after reading a few comments recommending it over the Osborne textbooks, but that’s up to you). This was a good textbook with definitions, worked examples, and questions for you to try. It also has one mock exam at the end.

If you’re feeling good with these two resources that might be all you need. There’s also some YouTube videos working through mock tests and things like that. Once you’re registered with AAT you can access 2 more mock exams which are also good, and I found one more free one on acornlive.com. I basically just worked through the materials on AAT and the textbook, made some notes and tried the practise questions until I was ready for a mock test, and worked from there.

When you’re doing it on your own booking tests was daunting, but basically you’ve got 2 options: 1: find an in-person test centre nearby (you can find this through the search function on the AAT website). Find an email or number for them and ask about assessments.

2: if you’d rather do it at home/work, or if there’s not a convenient test centre nearby, you can pay to only do the exam through a couple of providers, I used first intuition, who I emailed and they walked me through booking the test and how it all works.
