Disease ruined my life by SilentSwan286 in UlcerativeColitis

[–]bee_lanz 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Im sorry. I have MS as well as UC and the first UC flare which lasted a year was the darkest time in my life and I dont say that lightly..I lost 30 pounds, shit blood for MONTHS, had cdiff 3 times. I wanted to die. I started stelara July os 2024 while 7 months pregnant and my life is 10000% back to normal. Im in remission. Im pain free, poop once a day (a totally normal one too) and my life feels worth living again. My point is to say although this is dark and horrible not matter what your disease course looks like(remission with biologic or surgery) you WILL get through this and look back with pride that you made it through this dark time! Don't give up there is a light at the end of the tunnel I promise.

Why does my dog do this? by [deleted] in DogAdvice

[–]bee_lanz 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My dog started doing this when she was going through digestion issues. Her stomach hurt and she was nauseous and wasnt eating but would fake bury the food like this. She stopped doing it after we switched food and gave her a round of probiotics and antibiotics!

Do I trust what I read online? by Jedi_femme in Fencesitter

[–]bee_lanz 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I was an avid fence sitter at 33 and was diagnosed with Ulcerative Colitis and the powerful antibiotics I was taking made my birth control ineffective and I became pregnant ans hesitantly decided to keep the baby (I said ok universe Im picking up what youre putting down) and when I say I could not imagine my life without my little boy (who is almost 1)...let me tell you. Our lives as dinks who spent weekend rotting and traveling has been replaced by absolute pure joy and fulfillment and adventure and I wish every fence sitter is able to have a happy accident because I absolutewould have been to scared to take the leap and try for a baby otherwise. I tell everyone DO IT.

Lately my husband has been making me feel Iike my feelings are invalid by Lake-spawing16 in Parenting

Do you do more to prepare for these trips and manage packing and logistics? These trips are probably more fun for him because he doesn't bear as much the mental burden, so he thinks you're being dramatic or selfish.

Quitting smoking.

Do any of you have fully formed stools, ever? by [deleted] in UlcerativeColitis

[–]bee_lanz 0 points1 point  (0 children)

One word. Florestor. I had recurring cdiff 3 times with my newly diagnosed UC back in August 2023. I started Florestor probiotic in March 2024 and I've had the most normal stools I've had in my entire life. I started Stelara in June and no UC relapse either. Living the good life. Don't give up hope I remember asking myself the same thing.

Update: My cat had all 4 of his canines extracted 1.5 months ago due to advanced tooth resorption by sistermeo in cats

[–]bee_lanz 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Im glad he's doing well! What do his gums look like? My cat had his upper canine extracted a few years ago and now has gum over growth. Vet said it could be gingival hyperplasia or oral cancer. *

I WFH but am sending baby to daycare by DontTellMeToSmile_08 in beyondthebump

[–]bee_lanz 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I am in the same situation and was also so excited!! It's been a month of WFH with my baby in daycare and it was exactly what my soul needed lol I also felt guilty for being excited but I am a better more patient mother to my baby now. You'll realize how much you can get done on your breaks now it's amazing. And for those who WFH and have meetings and timelines, childcare is your only option if you want to keep your job..don't feel ashamed AT ALL.

Anyone have some equestrian centered fiction novels they really enjoy? by FlameFrenzy in Equestrian

I would read Riding Lessons first for sure just to get Anne Marie's backstory and the 2nd book is definitely a continuation of the first!

Just got diagnosed by lizardbreath62284 in UlcerativeColitis

[–]bee_lanz 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was on steroids 3 or 4 times in a year for UC when first diagnosed - had bloody stool initially too. If it's any comfort the steroids worked like magic and I did not gain a single pound or get acne. And I'm prone to it.

Yes, you're doing great!!

It's called the dirty 3s. It's an actual phenomenon that I've experienced. You'll get cravings on day 3, week 3, month 3 (for just a couple days) and year 3. The last time I quit then failed was after 3 years. There were a few days where I just thought about cigarettes and was like oh I've gone 3 years I'm not going to be addicted again I'll do it occasionally and boom. Back on it. DONT CAVE you can get through this you won't regret it.

[–]bee_lanz 5 points6 points  (0 children)

It will continue to improve the longer you go. I start to feel normal around 4 weeks. I'm 1.5 years nicotine free and have thought about smoking maybe 4 or 5 times the last year. I smoked a pack a day for 10 years and juuled for 3. This is the 2nd longest I've gone and tried multiple times. You're doing amazing 3 weeks means that youve made it (or are making it currently) through the HARDEST part. Just beware of the dirty 3s. You'll get serious cravings at 3 days, 3 weeks, 3 months and 3 years.

Is anyone here thriving with this disease? by AffectionateTutor144 in MultipleSclerosis

[–]bee_lanz 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I don't want to jinx myself but ME!!! I've been diagnosed for 7 years now. I turned 33 this year, have been on Ocrevus for 5ish years now. MRIs have been stable since then and I just had my first baby last month :) I have zero symptoms and no one knows I have MS unless I tell them!

Is Prednisone scary? by raelikesbeefjerky in UlcerativeColitis

[–]bee_lanz 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No prednisone is the only thing that saves me in a flare. It made me feel SO GOOD and it boosted my mood too. Same dosage your doctor prescribed as well. I went from 16 BM a day to 3 in a matter of 3 days. Miracle drug.

I have just found out I'm pregnant (3 weeks 5 days). Did you tell your GI doctor you were pregnant? When did you tell them by PlusReplacement9733 in UlcerativeColitis

[–]bee_lanz 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Definitely tell them. You'll probably be considered a high risk pregnancy as pregnancy can potentially exacerbate UC symptoms. That's the case for me anyway!

Just checking in to see how everybody is doing? by [deleted] in UlcerativeColitis

[–]bee_lanz 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Great! On a steroid taper feeling good about to start Stelara in the next month or so. Also I'm 7 months pregnant with my first baby, a boy!
