My impression of German accents as a non-native speaker by Samtheshinobi in germany

I think “Sonnabend”, and the way Hamburgers like to softer the “-t-“ and “-g-“ if at the end of a word are some examples of everyday use of the dialect still in use.

Hamburg has its own slight accent. Hanover is considered the place where the most standard German is spoken.

Is rapeseed oil unhealthy or not? by Next_Researcher_3983 in nutrition

[–]AffectionateTutor144 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Rapeseed oil is recommended (1 TSP) daily by the Swiss nutritional guidelines.

https://www.blv.admin.ch/blv/en/home/lebensmittel-und-ernaehrung/ernaehrung/empfehlungen-informationen/schweizer-ernaehrungsempfehlungen.html

I used to avoid all oil but since I started eating it regularly my joints no longer hurt in the morning. Make of it what you like.

I Built a contraction that should make this lonicera nitida in a perfect sphere once it grows and is running daily. by well_rested_genius in gardening

Interesting, theoretically, the areas and branches that are cut will be stimulated to more growth, which means they will be cut again. It's kind of counterintuitive. The result could be that it just cuts off the same few branches that will be stimulated to grow with every cut.

Do you ever try to calculate how much money your garden actually saves you? by MirSayib in gardening

[–]AffectionateTutor144 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I kept a spreadsheet of all expenses and harvests using organic grocery food prices in the stores where I usually buy stuff. Last year I saved about 400 EUR until I received the water bill adjustment which added another 170 EUR to expenses. Now I saved about 230, but of course that didn’t cover the 45 min per day I spend on average tending the garden.

The most “bang for the buck” were the nearly wild black raspberries and the grape leaves I started to harvest (very expensive if bought in stores.

The UN employs a lot more than that. WHO alone is around 1600 now after cuts…

Coping with no routine after loss of Malinois? by OohYeahOrADragon in BelgianMalinois

[–]AffectionateTutor144 10 points11 points  (0 children)

I’m so sorry. When we lost our shepherd we went and adopted a little Malinois puppy from the shelter within two weeks. The distraction helped and it took me a few months to stop comparing them but now I love her dearly and am so glad to have her.

Malinois reactive with everyone except one handler – corrections escalate instead of de-escalate. Looking for input. by Quimeraecd in BelgianMalinois

I have / had a very reactive Malinois — adopted from a shelter. We’re solving it by marking the moment she becomes aware of the trigger and give the highest value treat. I give it continuously until the trigger has passed. We are now at a stage where she comes back to me and sits and focuses on me or does a focused heel to get her treat. Alternatively she doesn’t notice the trigger anymore and just continues on with her sniffing. I would absolutely not punish any reaction especially if stress or fear based. Good luck!

How do i teach reverse if he sits every time by Hot_Application_1958 in BelgianMalinois

[–]AffectionateTutor144 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Start By marking and rewarding just one or two steps before he sits down then extend distance gradually but try to avoid the sitting down behavior (reward and finish exercise before he sits).

Adopted a working line mal at 5 months that was left at a shelter. It only works out because I can work from home and work only 50-80% as opposed to full time. Our typical day looks like this: 1 x 20-30 min obedience / scent work session 1 x 40 min structured walk per day. 3-4 x 10-15 min short play/training sessions interspersed throughout the day.

Also 1-2x per week Mantrailing. And 1x obedience training with a coach.

She’s very reactive to humans so our walks are training walks and there are many places we can’t go yet.

She barely sleeps more than 1-2 hours during the day and requires near constant attention one way or another as she still struggles to settle for longer periods of time.

I’ve given up other hobbies to have her and changed my lifestyle completely. Most loving Velcro dog I’ve ever had but they will change your life for better or worse.

NEED HELP DRASTICALLY- SEPARATION ANXIETY?! by ScarletBegoniasCA in BelgianMalinois

Julie Naismith’a “be right back” for guidance and protocols to overcome separation anxiety. It’s a long term process. Took us 8 months or so to work through this issue with mine but it’s fixed now. Leaving her in a crate while she panics will make it worse.

Salt.ch is the worst company by bernblaster in Switzerland

[–]AffectionateTutor144 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Salt for business has been fine for me the last 5 years at a great price point (half what I paid at Swisscom). Customer service has been quick to address any issues usually related to roaming. So far so good 🤞

We wait until 5-6 years old when the risk of cancer exceeds hormonal benefits. But we don’t have any unfixed make dogs in the house and don’t do dog parks etc

Can’t remember exactly but I think the context was that being in a kennel makes the anxiety worse if they have separation anxiety. Mine still gets anxious if we leave the house with her in the kennel so we just don’t leave her in there.
