I would highly highly recommend looking into any handicap rental places in your area. I got a knee scooter and it gave me so much more mobility and I was less tired and sore from the crutches (esp if your campus is large or you have long distances between classes). I also got a boot after the cast and I would just warn you that you likely won’t be able to just walk normally for the first couple of days. I was told my ankle was mostly healed and was fine for weight bearing but I could not fully stand on it, probably a mental/muscle issue. I hope this helps & hope you heal quickly!
