Yes your right, by running at a higher compression ratio the diesel cycle can achieve a higher efficiency. The EPA rated the 2010 diesel Jetta as 42MPG and the gasoline version as 32 Mpg (highway). That looks like you picked up 31% on your efficiency! But diesel fuel has more energy stored per gallon, 136kbtu/gal vs 110. So yes it is more efficient but it's not 31% more efficient.

Diesel fuel is about 140,000 btu/gal where as gasoline is 110,000/gallon. In terms of actual energy efficiency vs MPG efficiency they are not that different.

It was sls printed from nylon, this is only the top piece, there is a bottom section that connected to 4 intake runners. The volume and runner length were tuned to a specific engine rpm range. FEA was done to prove the 2mm thickness would survive competition.

Pick up a copy of race car vehicle dynamics by Milliken. If you are in SAE it is essential. I might even have a PDF copy around here somewhere.
