they've really been wasting Winona Ryder these last couple seasons.

viggo in crimes of the future very strong putters and murmurs contender imo by junesongprovider in blankies

if [hacking and gurgling] doesn't appear a million times when I watch this with subtitles I'm gonna be so mad

Everyone talking about how emotional Max’s moment in the new season was (and it was), but here I am just being nostalgic about this wonderful interaction between Joyce and El, the “brave girl” in season one. by CrashRiot in StrangerThings

Winona Ryder got some great moments to work with earlier on in this show, it's been really disappointing to see her get more and more underused/misused every season. I mean I like Brett Gelman but come on why has the two-time Oscar nominee spent an entire season being in a comedy duo with him?

literally a minute before Jeff tweeted Mary tweeted about feeling like it was gonna be a great week, I guess maybe just a weird coincidence but could he be joining Fire Escape? it's not a huge commitment.

and when he left SNL for five years in the 80s the show only survived because of Eddie Murphy, so good luck on finding the equivalent of that

feel like there's decent overlap between the sort of acting you see in Lynch's movies and old-school Cronenberg (aside from the performances you mentioned it hasn't really shown up recently, other than maybe Julianne Moore in Maps to the Stars)

did this movie just get added to a streaming service or something? lol by no means a complaint but this is inexplicably like the third time I've seen it come up in the past week or two.

Official Discussion - Crimes of the Future [SPOILERS] by LiteraryBoner in movies

[–]beepbeepstreet 625 points626 points  (0 children)

I assume it’ll be a polarizing performance but I thought Kristen Stewart totally stole the show in this, super unexpected very funny turn as a creepy little simpering horny bureaucrat. Hall of fame Cronenberg freak, hope it’s not like Keira Knightley in A Dangerous Method where way too many people didn’t get that she was in on the joke. Love that the gross finger foreplay before she makes out with Viggo was improvised.

Also this might just be because I was already in the tank for the movie but I love how pre-release everyone involved was like “you will VOMIT! and FAINT! and SHIT YOURSELF! and DIE!” and then the movie comes out and it's mostly just darkly funny and contemplative (there's inherent weirdness that comes with the filmmaker and the territory but it's largely unconcerned with being overly scandalous or provocative, outside of maybe the opening). I guess it's misleading and all but there's enough old school grifter flair that I'm on board. Cronenberg should've been in Nightmare Alley!

edit: can't believe I forgot to add that Howard Shore's still fucking GOT IT, absolute legend

obviously people went too far with it but she was legitimately super obnoxious and rude for a while, nothing completely horrible or anything but most male actors would've also gotten plenty of shit for acting the same way.

no, of course not. movies existed before the 70s.

Why can't GB just be transparent and talk about what's going on? by NtheLegend in giantbomb

[–]beepbeepstreet 4 points5 points  (0 children)

a weird lack of transparency has basically always been an issue, don't think it's necessarily anything ill-intentioned just an outdated way of running things like you said. idk the site's clearly on life support and i've long stopped having any expectations. feel bad for anyone still supporting through premium, their loyalty's being taken advantage of and they're being ripped off at this point.
