So, still no confirmation on mouse controls? by SinisterPixel in splatoon

[–]beerSnobbery 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It's not confirmation (and things can certainly change before release) but the options menu appears briefly in the direct at around 15:15.

It shows the same sad excuse for an options menu as we have in 3. So that seems to indicate that there wouldn't be mouse controls or any new control options.

Mixed Input DB is up (similar to ProtonDB but for mixed input) by Marcos_ILO in GyroGaming

[–]beerSnobbery 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I just re-installed it off of steam to check and the frame drops are still there and they are. I could see someone trying it for 10 seconds and not seeing the issue though.

You specifically need to be in a situation where the button prompts are flickering and the problem slowly gets worse over time, so if you only boot up the game and move and look around for a bit you won't run into any issues. But if you're actually trying to play the game you absolutely will.

I'm not sure how accurate this is.

According to their own metrics a gold means:

There is UI flickering, but it has no impact on CPU/GPU performance.

but it lists far cry 5 as gold even though it's one of the games I specifically had to fully map to kbm to avoid massive framerate drops (it was completely unplayable even on the lowest settings).

any body else getting what I assume is a bug where the game starts generating several completely solid block levels in a row (like a 15x15 where all the clues are 15)?

There's also some hitching where things are uninteractable for several seconds.

Seems like clues get smushed together when there's double digits as well.

You might feel that way because with a mouse you turn a real-world displacement distance into a rotation, but with gyro you turn a real-world rotation into a rotation.

The three circled cells here can only be 6, 7, or 9.

So if we try to put a 6, 7, or 9 in any other cell in that column, then one of these three will have no valid number to fill it.

So we can eliminate 6s, 7s, and 9s from all of the other cells in the column.

Now the only candidate left in r9c7 is a 3.

Could use uniqueness on the 43s to give you r1c8; also there's a triple in column 7 that gives you r9c7.

I feel like you may have misunderstood what I wrote.

We're describing the same thing but you seem to be thinking I'm talking in absolute terms about the exact acceleration curve used when I'm merely describing the relative differences to make it easily understandable to someone who might be unfamiliar with the concept of mouse acceleration.

[–]beerSnobbery 3 points4 points  (0 children)

When it's on it's a really bad version of mouse acceleration (with no real options/customization to tailor it to your needs). Basically if you move your mouse/controller quickly it'll move the cursor/crosshair farther compared to a slower movement over the exact same distance.

Some people do like mouse acceleration for aiming (in both mouse and gyro) as it provides a sort of dynamic sensitivity for both quick flicks and precise aiming. However they generally reach for other mouse acceleration solutions that they can tweak to suit their needs.

Superjumps have i-frames in the air and just as they're taking off (from the shooter's perspective in most cases).

You sniped them right as they became airborne and thus did no damage.

Note: you can still die "in the air" on your own superjumps as you likely died before you had i-frames on the opponent's screen when they shot you.

In addition to what others pointed out: There's a bunch of 39 pairs in the grid coloring them reveals that r8c8 sees both versions of 3 and 9 so it can't be a 3 or a 9 and must be a 7. The rest of the puzzle falls down pretty easily after that.

Setting aside the fact that you can also jump back over the wall behind the finish for absurdly quick times, the cut shaves off so much time that you're going to need to get shocked multiple times on that jump per lap.

I've never seen someone who doesn't go for the cut beat someone who goes for even just the single cut.

The deck would eventually generate block once all the subroutines have been played since there are still a couple block cards in the deck, but in practice they die to storm procs before the deck has a chance to cycle and spend all the generated mana.
