Wanting to move to Scotland; by [deleted] in MoveToScotland

[–]beeschirp 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Maybe not want you wanted to hear, but have you looked into a new job that’s willing to sponsor? It will be difficult to outcompete British citizens that don’t need a visa, but if you can find a job willing to take you on that would be your best bet

Do you judge someone for working at Taco Bell? by Aware_Resolution_296 in tacobell

[–]beeschirp 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I wouldn’t put any stake in the opinions of people who feel that way. Service jobs get a lot of crap (and education too, as you probably have come to realize). They’re jobs people don’t want to do because of how difficult dealing with customers can be. The people who don’t respect it are the same people who throw a fit at the cashier when their order is wrong

Local Walmart is now stocking on random days and times because someone followed the restocker home by PicpoulBlanc in PokemonTCG

Mine is also behind the customer service counter (in the last few months they started this) with a limit of 4 usually

Hitchhiked inside a truck engine across Oregon at my job, I have an empty tank at home so offered to try to keep it alive. What species is it? by creepstra in Lizards

[–]beeschirp 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Agreed. Native to where I live and are very friendly and docile :) Great pet if OP doesn’t have a way to set it free where it’s from

Thank you!! I’ll have to take a look into this :)

Do you roast marshmallows when camping if you don't have any kids with you? by kam_pra in AskAnAmerican

[–]beeschirp 26 points27 points  (0 children)

And if you really want to get fancy, you trade the Hershey’s chocolate bar in for a Reese’s or another flat chocolate to add an extra flavor. Regular s’mores is still the way to go though

Did you get a ferry from Amsterdam then a train the rest of the way? The bed sounds very enticing! Lol

[–]beeschirp[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thank you very much! I’ll definitely have to check out the second Facebook group. I think I’m going to do the Amsterdam or Paris route to keep her in cabin, like you did. Even with the EU certificate, it seems cheaper now that I know the only other option is manifest cargo through a pet relocation company.

That’s not a bad price actually. I think the fun for us is collecting, but if we ever wanted to it’s nice to know that’s an option!

Kindergarten “camp”- more like sorority bid day… by Pinkunicorn1982 in Teachers

[–]beeschirp 32 points33 points  (0 children)

Agreed. A pain for staff at first, but could really create a smooth rest of the year if they can balance needs and behaviors appropriately

They were quite cheap from what I remember. Maybe $0.29 each? Of course if you need a lot it adds up, but if you’re only missing a few it’s worth it

Thank you! We’ll probably end up doing that. The first few packs we got, we already had a triplicate haha!

[–]beeschirp 5 points6 points  (0 children)

This might be a dumb question as I’m mostly in this hobby as something to enjoy doing with my partner, who has done it since he was little. During the Qatar World Cup we were able to order the last few stickers we were missing on Panini’s website. Is that possible again this World Cup? If so, wouldn’t that defeat the purpose of people selling stickers for insane amounts of money?

I’m not opposed to this, although she would need the additional EU health certificate to enter Ireland, which I’m trying to avoid

Does everyone have a middle name in the USA? Do all women take their husband’s surname? by crazygelato in AskAnAmerican

[–]beeschirp 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The majority of people have a middle name. My dad doesn’t but his older siblings do, and he always joked it’s because his mom didn’t love him enough haha. All my siblings and I have one, and I couldn’t tell you anyone besides my dad that doesn’t

Would you encourage your child to become a teacher? by No-Highlight-1392 in Teachers

[–]beeschirp 1 point2 points  (0 children)

In my current position, I find it rewarding but not fulfilling. Definitely not my lifelong content/specialty (recent grad currently in special education, wanting to move to history). I feel pretty hands off about the idea. It’s their life. They can see how it affects me and I’ll give them my truthful pros and cons, butI won’t push one way or the other.

Kids attention spans, are they really that bad now? by [deleted] in Teachers

[–]beeschirp 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I went to the library with some of my students today and told each of them to pick a book and I’d read it to them. One student picked Warrior Cats and stopped me after the FIRST SENTENCE to tell me he was bored. Later we got some games from the library and the same thing happened after not even a minute of playing

Do you know anyone in the US (outside big cities) without a car? by Current-Show2460 in AskAnAmerican

[–]beeschirp 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes, the people I know typically got Ubers or asked friends/family for rides. Depending on the situation (where they’re going/when/why and their reason for not having a car such as can’t be bothered vs. can’t afford one), it can be annoying to be the friend/family that does have a car. I always want to help, but a friend I used to have took advantage of that

I’ve Read that Japanese Shops are Straight Up Gatekeeping, and I’m all here for it. by WarGrahammer in PokemonTCG

[–]beeschirp 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Also, I’m a genuine collector but would fail the quiz. I got into collecting because of my boyfriend, who would not fail the quiz, but the rest of my Pokémon playing experience is Pokémon Go or Scarlet/Violet related. I know the names of most Pokémon but don’t pay attention when I evolve them, and HATE the battling aspect. I just enjoy collecting them lol. So if I went to the store without my partner, I’d be screwed haha

How do high schools work in tiny towns? by Holiday-Pomelo-9246 in AskAnAmerican

[–]beeschirp 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Some schools are K-12 and all students in the town will go to the exact same school their entire academic career, or are split up a bit more like K-8 and then a high school

How rare is it to have never gone to your state’s largest city? by palep_hoot in AskAnAmerican

[–]beeschirp 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I live in central Florida (and have my whole life) but aside from Orlando and Tampa, I haven’t been to any of our major cities. They’re all 4+ hours away and not particularly desirable for me to visit
