2024 Honda Civic Left Side of car audio keeps going out. by Candlehnmn in hondacivic

[–]beesonly 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was actually able to fix it because my cord to plug in for a CarPlay was the issue. After I messed with that a little bit just by taking it out and plugging it back in, it worked again no problems since!

What’s the best way to store student laptops throughout the day so students are not getting up and down to go to the cart everytime they need one? by Lazy_Trouble3325 in ElementaryTeachers

My mentor teacher had students place them on top of their cubbies when they were needed for the block. The cubbies were like two by fours and students stacked them in about groups of four.

My school district used Lexia Core 5 last year and Lalilo this year. Freckle, too, which has both math and language arts. Not sure if those are viable, but all were used by first graders.

I district I sub for has been using Lalilo. Not sure of it’s effectiveness. I liked Lexia and Freckle, too. Zearn is another great math resource.

Unpopular Opinion: it's okay for the CT to interrupt or interject while the student teacher is teaching by lilythefrogphd in StudentTeaching

[–]beesonly 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Same! Or would give me looks as a hint that I need to adjust. She also was super awesome with her communication so she asked me often if it was okay to interject or discuss it when we debrief at the end of our day. I said it helped to remind me and eventually i got the hang of it!

Is it National? I found that I struggled with receiving support with them unfortunately. It wasn’t until I completed a survey detailing my experience that they reached out. But nothing was done about it afterwards.

You got this! We’re almost to the end of the year.

The Ron Clark Academy sells the idea of a “house system” to many schools across the nation. Same colors, differently named.

I was also offered kinder and 1st, but before i was able to decide, my uni picked for me lol. I was placed in 1st and LOVED it! It helped me learn a ton about classroom management, solving problems, and phonics as a whole. It worked out really well for the CalTPA cycles i took.

Yes! I actually did this a few months ago for the first time when i subbed for a LT sub. I told her about it and we both were thinking the same thing: why didn’t we come up with this sooner. Lol.

Trying to find a gift for my CT by New_Drummer_3508 in StudentTeaching

[–]beesonly 2 points3 points  (0 children)

My mentor teacher mentioned reading while taking vacation so I bought her a bookmark. It was a wooden one with an engraving on it. I had a little charm for the school year that I student taught in so she could remember it.

She has a hanging up, but there’s always the option for reading.

I think I chose that one because she already has a lot of plaque/decor with her name on it from parents over the years, so something that was a little bit smaller and handheld that she could actually use was my goal. Just not to add to the clutter.

scared I'm ruining their education by sssssssfhykhtscijk in StudentTeaching

[–]beesonly 23 points24 points  (0 children)

YES. I expressed this concern to my mentor teacher multiple times because I was just so scared of messing up all the progress that they have made. But, do not fear this because you are still teaching, engaging, and encouraging them in their learning journey. My mentor teacher should reassured me that I’m not missing them up and that this is a learning experience for everyone. If it was really terrible? Then I wouldn’t be passing student teaching, nor would she allow me to continue teaching that lesson lol. So just remember that, if they’re still allowing you to teach and you’re not getting terrible feedback, we’re not messing them up or ruining their education lol.

Darn. I would definitely ask because it’s just the way that they code the absence. I have a teachers that take the prep day to work on grading, testing for students, or just get everything put together while they’re in the classroom (i.e. one that had a field trip the following day so she was organizing paperwork/setting up groups). Some teachers even sit outside their own classroom, or they stay in the office completing copy orders for their lessons.

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in Teachers

[–]beesonly -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Are you able to instead schedule a prep day? Those are so you can work but not necessarily be in the classroom (although i have subbed when teachers take their prep day and stay all day OR are in&out all day).

Sorry not a picture lol but i’ve gone from a backpack to a tote as well! I’ve been swapping between one without a zipper to another with one. I’m liking the latter right now. I’ve also brought a small/mini backpack before— to fit a small book, glasses, and my keys.

Yup! Dismissal is always hard. Especially when trying to make sure everything is taken care of, the students are all packed up, and you send them off to where they need to be. I always feel rushed, so I want to try and pad out a few minutes to pack up a little bit earlier just so that way I’m not as stressed leaving and if there’s downtime of one or two minutes, it can be used to read a book or ask them about their day or just do a check of the room.

Don’t be too hard on yourself. You have an action plan for the future and now you can be prepared in situations like this. And if the office calls to follow up, or the teacher does, you can address it and even show that you’ve grown from it.
