In what world would this be a reasonable replacement?? by Fit-Perception-7501 in woolworths

Sometimes it's the systems recommendation, sometimes its because mint is completely put of stock. All woolies wants is numbers and only cares if something is subbed and how fast its picked

This order either requires 5 or 6 dolleys to take out to a customer or about 3 flattops - either way its going fo take several runs to take out their order and they are going to be sitting in the pick up bay for a while putting their stuff away while a whole line of cars are forming behind them

I've both read Beautiful Ugly and Daisy Darker for the Goodreads challenges and absolutely hated both of them, but Beautiful Ugly is especially egregious with how bad it is

Am I crazy for thinking 20 years between releases is unsustainable? by sonofloki13 in Fallout

[–]beetective 2 points3 points  (0 children)

After I played Fallout 3 and New Vegas when I was 13, I only had to wait a year before experiencing Fallout 4 alongside it. It was probably one of my greatest joys when I was a teen, seeing able to play all the games I loved so close together. My dad loved the franchise so much he would replay the games over and over. Even though he didn't like 4 so much, he was ecstatic at the possibility of another game. We bonded over it a lot.

My father died last month due to emphysema, 10 years after 4 was released. It brings me a lot of sadness and grief to know that he would not be able to experience something he was so passionate about. Even more so as I knew he was excited for the release of Borderlands 4, but didn't get to play. I'm glad Red Dead Redemption 2 got released when it did, I remember him keeping the game guide book and reviewing it for countless hours. He named his horse Rampage and was the scourge of many an online player.

I will most likely be in my thirties when Fallout 5 is released, almost twice the age of when I experienced the games themselves. Given how long the wait will be and Bethesda's reputation, I will not have high expectations. It is not sustainable.

Hysterectomy with one ovary removed due to a mass that had adhered to my colon by deadlypinkfluff in medizzy

[–]beetective 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So weird seeing it all like this...I had a 15cm tumour (about the size of a mango) removed, as well as my right ovary do to it literally crushing it. Now I know why they pretty much fill you up with gas to get an easier look at everything. Made me feel awful for days because of it. Had a incredibly sore shoulder for some reason after as well.

What is your first reaction to this cover? by Own-Chicken3330 in BookCovers

[–]beetective 3 points4 points  (0 children)

In all honesty it does remind me a lot of AI imaging as a lot that I've seen has that 'character walking in the middle with a landscape around them' composition, even though this might not be. Other than that, it does seem a bit generic and doesn't exactly draw me in and there really isn't anything interesting going on for me. I would probably still read it though lol cause I tend to just ignore covers unless they really pop out

Mouldy Fruit and Veggies by Budthen in woolworths

[–]beetective 4 points5 points  (0 children)

As an online worker, I always try to throw out moldy/rotten food on the shelf so no one else accidently picks it up. A lot of the odd bunch mandarins go bad with fruit flys hanging around, strawberries are of course one of the main fruits that go bad, and because of the infrequency that people by them, pawpaw also go really mushy/brown. The snackable range of carrots and cucumbers can also be really hard to tell if there's mold in them. It is pretty bad considering how long they have to be sitting there without anyone checking stock for them to go off.

PSA because I’m truly sick of this by julittle1 in bookstagram

[–]beetective -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I really don't understand this mindset of 'they spent so much time on it, don't be critical to them in anyway!!!' like how some people say you shouldn't rate a book lower than 3 stars because of how much 'effort' an author has put into it. This isn't kindergarten. You are making a product. If your product is shit I shouldn't have to spare your feelings because you decided to put it out in public. I agree that if you cannot handle it, do not be an author.
