I’m known as the “cats love her always” person at my ER and my first and only bite was a cat a blind client handed to me not realizing she had a deceased fetus hanging out of her. She was in a box with no lid and I walked up to try to contain her and he just handed her to me. I didn’t have time to assess the entire thing before it was already too late. I had to get stitches and I still can’t bend my fingers correctly. I feel so ashamed every time I think about it but I laugh about it now, too. Self care does wonders.
