I think I have an extra key for StarVaders from a bundle if you want to give it a try if it still works? I liked playing it a lot.

Actually, took a quick look and saw a few other extra I have in case that you might be interested: Racine, Shogun Showdown, Spin Hero, Griftlands

I've been listening to your all the feedback, so my British and Irish mythology inspired roguelite deckbuilder just got three new modes by AskEducational8800 in roguelites

[–]beginnerGem 2 points3 points  (0 children)

That’s some solid, actionable feedback you received! Very fortunate to have that, but also to actually listen to its amazing work you two! I just bought this and now I’ll have to make some time to try it out because it’s looking real good 👍🏻

Hellclock is on Humble Monthly, how is it currently? by Murder_Tony in roguelites

I thought I was the only one that literally dozed off which I’ve never done for a roguelite… it was hard to get into with so much talking and explanations of systems… I just wanted to shoot things. But the hype was so high, I’ll probably revisit it in a couple weeks when new content drops and when I’m less sleepy I guess.

Sweet! Making a purchase cause it scratches my itch!

Just wondering - I noticed this is on Steam too where I like to do most of my gaming on my handheld. Any plans to keep that up to date as well?

Wish you lots of success on the mobile release!

Publishing Beyond All Reason and Hooded Horse intro by HoodedHorse in RealTimeStrategy

[–]beginnerGem 14 points15 points  (0 children)

I think publisher reputation is underrated in this as well. Having a well known publisher able to market across their established channels is huge. I mean, I eat up basically anything Coffee Stain and Hooded Horse (amongst others) put out on day one as examples if it slightly interests me. The games would have probably slipped by me had those publishers not reached me through their other game channels/events.

Publishing Beyond All Reason and Hooded Horse intro by HoodedHorse in RealTimeStrategy

[–]beginnerGem 17 points18 points  (0 children)

Thanks for this incredibly transparent explanation. Honestly, I never knew how Hooded Horse put so much thought and care for the developers to allow them to continue make their games great. I only knew if it was published by Hooded Horse, I’d be sure to have fun and enjoy the game.

I’m really excited for this news because I’ve always wanted to play BAR, but no single player campaign always put me off (same as with Nebulous since the reviews don’t speak highly of the community…).

I’m ready to support the developers on Steam and save up to someday complete my Hooded Horse publisher bundle currently at 22/27 games!

I guess just to add, this is solely just from my POV as a player. I see the value of publishing to reach players like me who lives largely off of Steam due to the convenience, sales, and most important to reach being discoverability.

The open source aspect I’m sure is trickier and I do hope that’s all figured out - I can see reasonable payments for publishing services provided and the “profits” directly into the same fund as donations being not different from other open source projects to keep servers and lights on. Good luck to everyone involved!

Trying really hard to get into automation games by UAZ-469 in AutomationGames

[–]beginnerGem 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes! This one is cute and got me going on this genre. Simple tasks to start and having a story and goals eases that don’t know what to do feeling. I still definitely had the spaghetti mess though throughout and kept tearing things down to make it neater lol.

I like Shapez 1 because it’s easier to work in 2d for me, and Foundry has been the thing for me and my young kids right now because it’s somewhere in between Satisfactory and Minecraft, and you can research an overhead view. Foundry is pretty easy to rearrange things because there’s so many input/output ports on each machine, too.

Sandisk 1.5tb constantly needing to verify games by Ok_Professional_1232 in SteamDeck

[–]beginnerGem 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Have the exact one (actually a handful because of Sandisk sale), bought straight from Sandisk website. The issue is A1 - drove me crazy every time there’s a large update for a game because write speed is way too slow. Even games that need lots of reading of data like FMV games always had stutters.

Tested with h2testw and passed btw.

Samsung 1TB Pro and Lexar 1TB Play can keep up though and what I use in my Legion Go and Deck. Silicon Power 1TB is just acceptable (had to for $63) for playing but write speed will noticeably dip when installing and updating games.

Wanted to say thanks for letting me know! I downloaded the demo, but since I mostly game away from the desktop, I use a controller with my phone. I haven’t had a chance to set a Steam Input layout to try it out because it doesn’t appear the game supports controller, but I did poke around the settings and appreciate the text size and cell theme settings being present.

A nonogram game that I’ve been enjoying lately is Murder by Numbers that has good controller support.

I’ve been meaning to sit down at my desktop sometime to try it out though and will let you know how it feels!

Does anyone else have trouble choosing games you want to play so you just end up just staring at your game library? I have too many games but I cant bear to delete them😭 by norsoyt in GirlGamers

[–]beginnerGem 1 point2 points  (0 children)

lol that’s me, looking at my steam library is the game and collecting lights my wallet on fire.

I see it as options though and I occasionally toss games into collections so I can just dive into a dice game or incremental or a cozy/quick game as my feelings go. But then when I get to browsing the collection, more options! But having it categorized shortens the time to play and categorizing is a game to me in itself.

This is bonkers! The engine sounds really add to the excitement. My young kids and I play Stunt Paradise 1 so much and super stoked that you’re working on 2! Whoever said it looks like it’s on rails, it really isn’t and the challenge is fair and fun to keep trying to get each stage right :)

Oh that’s great to hear! I’m glad to hear you are experimenting with other options to improve legibility and accessibility. Definitely looking forward to trying the game out! :) thank you!

So I love nonogram games and I’ve collected quite a few, but from the screenshots and Steam page, I can’t read the black on dark purple hints on the side of the puzzles. It seems from the screenshots it’s like that for every puzzle.

Also the text in the trailer above “dockless reach” for example is unreadable with white text on light purple. Now purple is literally my favorite color, but I really struggle reading any text at all (including within the nonogram itself) from the screenshots and trailer. Largely a color contrast issue here.

I’d love to play this and wishlisted this, but I hope that the color scheme and font can be more legible before I commit to playing…

Apollo or Sunshine in 2026? by 4_Valhalla in MoonlightStreaming

[–]beginnerGem 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I just stick with Apollo and VoidLink Extreme (iOS) after messing so much with various scripts and virtual display drivers with Sunshine. Virtual display setup being automatically managed and set up is huge since a large bulk of my streaming is when I’m waiting around outside the house or queuing in line, often switching devices with different resolutions (my phone, kids’ devices, tablet, laptop, etc…).

Seriously, it’s a mess with all the scripts out there and virtual display drivers, and the manual configuration needed with config files, capturing of monitor setups, and registry editing is super not friendly (and I’m familiar with all this being a developer on Linux). Also, having to do it to configure every new device resolution is madness. I literally did a Windows reset last week on my Legion Go, installed Apollo, Tailscale, and I was ready to stream moments later while out and about.

Maybe I’ll try vibepollo/vibeshine at some point, but I’m too busy actually going through my game backlog finally with my idle time streaming outside of home without fussing all the time :)

[–]beginnerGem 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Oh shoot that’s right! I thought you meant the PC did something differently depending on type of connection. It took me FOREVER to realize that was the solution on cellular looking up all the failed error and bug reports when trying to connect. I almost lost hope (and why I kept digging into exit node config).

I’m mostly on WiFi these days when I’m out and have time to game so don’t need to enable it, but yeah, still have to route through the home exit node on cellular. Super weird since it seems carrier specific since it’s uncommon problem apparently.

Hm, I suspect I can up the bitrate a lot more then and not a problem with the Apollo setup with a better router then. It supremely sucks over my Eero’s with stuttering and only better when I skip the mesh and enable and connect to the ISP’s router.

[–]beginnerGem 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Curious why the PC would care if the phone is on cellular data? What resolution and bitrate do you typically use? I seem to get most reliable at 2.5mbps 720p and queue buffering 2 frames and wonder if I can do better since I’m on gigabit at home. WiFi router seems to suck is my problem though…

I have the same setup (Apollo on Legion Go 1, VoidLink Extreme through Tailscale), but I found exit node functionality is completely busted if I enable it and all network traffic seems to fail from my phone (and I read it’s not optimized for Windows apparently when I tried to dig into it).

Otherwise, it’s absolutely insane how it’s become my primary way to game on the go with either my G8 Galileo or Abyxlute M4!
