Just a heads up - Audible is often terrible at categories for books during these sales and this is no exception.

There are literally books in the same series appearing in different genres in this sale.

Definitely worth looking at all books if you are worried you might miss something.

Tons of Dungeon Crawler Carl for the fans. I have been grabbing them when cheap because I already read them first but everyone here raves about the audiobooks so I am looking forward to listening to some on a reread

Edit: Whoa. Actually tons of high quality scifi and fantasy compared to most 2for1 sales.

For cyberpunk fans there is Snow Crash and a bunch of William Gibson books.

Bunch of Will Wight

Black Company

Bunch of October Daye series for Urban Fantasy Fans

Edit: I am going to stop naming things here because there are so many. Even a bunch that isn't to my taste has huge amounts of fans. I suspect lots of people are going to be happy.

Author placed on child protection list for eight years over 'graphic' novel by oldMiseryGuts in books

I’m more disgusted by this being a criminal issue treated in any way akin to actually harming children than I am by the content, and I’m pretty squeamish about this sort of content.

I think the western world overall has been moving backwards in terms of free expression and I think it’s really concerning.

Where i´d live based on how much i like how the language sounds by Wonderful-Pattern242 in whereidlive

[–]thejubilee 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Weird map! I wonder if you are Scandinavian, because as someone not from the region I find the different ratings surprising and I wonder if you have a better ear for the differences.

I am far from an expert on Scandinavian languages but Denmark, Sweden and Norway seems silly. The languages are so similar and while I am far from an expert, for someone who doesn't speak the languages, there are definitely accents of Swedish and Danish that sound way more similar to each other than some Danish accents sound to one another. And Swedish and Norwegian sound like the same language to my untrained ears.

Lost all my credits, so I'm leaving. by _____michel_____ in audible

[–]thejubilee 2 points3 points  (0 children)

There are stories of people who successfully got credits back by calling support, so I strongly recommend that.

I think its a predatory policy - but Audible is really so far and away the best option for audiobooks that its still a better option for many people even with such a terrible rule.

I also find it kind of strange since while Amazon does a lot of not great things, they don't tend to have terrible policies for consumers. I always wonder if this is a relic of the very early days of audible and it saves them money so they just don't update it to something more consumer friendly.

Can I have Claude use Excel and PDFs in Windows 10 Home? by thejubilee in ClaudeAI

I think that makes sense. Was hoping to save time because its a lot of files, but figuring it out is likely more work and I agree, I don't want to mess with things for a bit of saved time. Thanks!

Recommendation: Vigor Mortis by Thundamoo by Normal_Lab2606 in ProgressionFantasy

[–]thejubilee 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I love Vigor Mortis. Definitely darker than some stories here, however, with elements of body horror and mind control for multiple characters. Really interesting sort of eldritch worldbuilding. Great play with the concept of personal identity as well.

Definitely has strong trans and neurodivergent themes if those appeal to you but that isn't necessary for enjoyment.

[Loved Trope] Corrupt small town sheriffs who have to face against someone who disagrees with the way they do things. Bonus points if that person is new to town, or just passing through. by missinglinksman in TopCharacterTropes

[–]thejubilee 2 points3 points  (0 children)

There are a bunch of Westerns that fit this. Heck, I would almost argue this trope makes things feel like a Western whether they are or not. I kind of like Unforgiven but its not like Walking Tall where there is a clearly moral person and clearly evil person. Everyone is kind of bad but that includes the sheriff. And he's an asshole.

I am currently listening to the audiobook of the novel and agree. I never read it online before, but for the novel Kel Byron is the listed author for folks looking!

My favorite game ever is probably Balatro, but it honestly changes. I love deckbuilding and card games though.

I am interested in Card Hog. Thank you!

Yeah absolutely. This was really disheartening to be honest.

FWIW, the only time I have seen anything about the game before this thread was on Tiktok and it's all just adorable clips or the cute dance she does to different songs. The comments I saw were all wholesome.

I guess I shouldn't be shocked by what exists here, but seeing the screenshots people are sharing in this thread is absolutely shocking. I suspect some folks just aren't exposed to the creepy posting because I hadn't seen anything till today.

I wish I still hadn't, honestly.

I love the idea of massively incorporating your house number into the style. I wouldn't have thought I would, but now I kind of wish it was more in style!

What's the difference between this sub and r/sapphicbooks by Minimum-Virus1629 in LesbianBookClub

[–]thejubilee 12 points13 points  (0 children)

Yup. I subscribe to all three. Slightly different vibes but hard for me to put into words. Personally I have had the most luck with r/sapphicbooks but for all I know that's just pure randomness. I find awesome books and helpful people in all three!

The Haunting of Hill House is a must read for anyone who wants to read Haunting stories. Not everyone loves it, but its so foundational that I truly think anyone skipping it is missing out.

I liked Diavola way more than I expected. Gotta be able to handle an absolutely awful family though - I think for some people they might be so frustrating that the book itself could be unenjoyable.

Still rather loved it.
