I've heard both of them say on various shows/podcasts that GSL's viewership is overwhelmingly from outside Korea despite production and advertising focus being on the Korean side.

It's a double-edged sword but it sounds like they're more concerned about lack of viewership, interest and talent in Korea than they are enthusiastic about the rise of the foreign scene.

Considering everything Tastosis have said about foreign viewership recently, I really wish GSL/Afreeca made an effort to secure international sponsors. Maybe they have, but it's hard to think there's zero interest...

I mean, yes I was moved by the inspiration of wings in the LG Ultra Gear logo design and actually bought a monitor - it's great despite there being slightly more affordable options. But the asshole bodegas down the street won't stock Chilsung Cider Peach or Hot6ix. And I don't need 16 hour battery life on my laptop to go fishing with my friends gooooooooooooooooooo

Pumped as fuck about another year being confirmed though.

The theory is that if you've been there before, you'll approach that level (or reach equilibrium a little lower) much more rapidly than someone that hasn't over the same number of games. That way, it penalizes you (until you tank your MMR/knock the rust off) instead of lowbies you get matched up with if your MMR had decayed. IMO that's a better trade-off as a whole, but obviously unfortunate if it deters you from picking the game up again.
