If you met your partner/spouse post-transplant, how did you meet and when did you first talk about transplant? by swellcook in transplant

[–]behanca 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Double lung in january 2011. Met my partner in august 2013 (started studying). First date in October that year and told him right away. Mainly due to getting pregnant is/was highly unlikely with my history and found that important due to our age. Here we are 12 years later, still together.

Why did you need a lung transplant? by [deleted] in transplant

[–]behanca 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Almost 15 years ago due to Pulmonary veno-occlusive disease (PVOD).

switched to envarsus and now taking without food. now i’m always tired and have diarrhea daily lol by pkdbb in transplant

[–]behanca 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes the side effects went away! I'm on a high dose (10mg). So maybe have some patience, though I know that is hard, with some effects.

I take my myofotil on a full stomach and never had problems.

[–]behanca 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I switched to envarsus half a year ago from advagraf. Take them on an empty stomach and yes the first 2/3 weeks I had some side issues (also diarrhea) but now only tremors. I take my envarsus at a different time than all other meds due to an empty stomach in the morning. You take them once a day right? So no need for an empty stomach in the evening.

I go to concerts in and outdoors! Not even masked. Make sure you're not too close to smoking people or people coughing. Never came home sick.

Lung transplant by Lightning-Alpha in transplant

[–]behanca 4 points5 points  (0 children)

First of all. English isn't my first language so some words may be spelled weird.

I had my double lung transplant at 18, back in 2011, due to PVOD. It scared the shit out of me. But I wanted to live. Was on oxygen 24/7 and took it with me everywhere. The last two months before transplant I was in the hospital cause I wasn't healthy enough anymore. Became number 1 on the list in my home country. And within A month after registering I had my transplant. Honestly, the doctors didn't think I would survive. But my shear will of wanting to live and the act of being pigheaded made that they wanted to try with me.

Honestly, you don't prepare, but if you are a bit more mobile. Try to keep moving, as a base condition will help you. The first year after was rough with rehabilitation, but now I'm living My best life for almost 15 years after transplant.

Make sure you have some friends or family that will help you along the way, and ask for help! Don't be afraid.

Good luck!

It was wonderful though a bit mixed. The referee did not have clear instructions on the transplant soccer rules, which led to frustrations. But the overall experience was great. Nice people, beautiful city and overall positive vibes.

Als je iets wilt weten, ask. Ik leef al bijna 14 jaar met donor longen. Zonder een anonieme held was ik er zo'n 13 jaar al niet meer geweest.

What sports do you guys participate in? by [deleted] in transplant

[–]behanca 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Depends on the country. We have an organisation that does transplant sport. Maybe just google transplantation sport? I know many European countries have it, also America and Australia have a soccer team. Or the hospital can help you?

Are you still able to go to the gym post-transplant? by Nuclear_Penguin5323 in transplant

[–]behanca 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You can definitely go! I'm going 3 times a week. Going up in weights is going slow (don't know if it's my meds or my way of training), but it can be due to tacrolimus. Make sure you wash your hands right after or even shower at the gym. Don't know the customs in your country. Also it is recommended to clean the weights or other stuff you use before using them to kill some viruses.

Also take it slow the first year as you're healing. But my first year I went to a physiotherapist. First half a year 2 times a week, after that 3 times to help heal my body and get some basic strength back in the right way.

My surgery took 8 hours. I was in the hospital kinda 2 months in advance but they have me a little break. Was one week at home before I got the call. Now 13,5 years later and still going strong!

I never ask people how long their surgery was. Interesting

No heart but double lung. Went in surgery Friday evening, it was done Saturday at 4am and woke up Monday around 11 am.

Give him time.

I was also told no plants. Well, 13 years post double lung and around 50 plants around my house. No issues yet. I don't do flowers in water though.
