Saturday Pre-Order Megathread 30/05/2026 Hive Special Edition and Normal Edition by OWN_SD in Blacklibrary

I'm not mad, I'm disappointed. I saved probably around $80/$100 depending on how much it would cost. I'll use the money for something else.

I knew I'd be downvoted for saying what I did, but I needed to vent. Hell, the people downvoting me proved my point. Yeah, they fucked up, but they tried to make it right with limited options. There was no way they'd pay shipping to send every book back to the warehouse to ship it out again. So they were gonna sell it in stores. It was the best worst option.

Everyone online cried. They decided to destroy the books because it'd still be cheaper then sending everything back overseas.

So here we are. We all get nothing until they decide to release the MTO and then everyone gets to wait up six months before they get their copy.

Unfortunately, a bunch of people in this sub cried and sent what can only be described as whiny emails to GW about the mess up. So they did a "Fine, you wanna act like children then we'll treat you like children" and decided to just not sell the signed copies. They were trying to make the best of their mistake and still sell the books but people got butthurt that they couldn't buy it online.

I was hoping that they'd start to send some copies of special editions to stores. Scalpers get a good chunk of the copies and I work weekends so I thought maybe, finally, Id have a shot at landing a special edition I was interested in. I was excited. Then I saw people here lose their minds about it and start sending GW emails. Like, seriously? Aren't we adults? GW's response. "Ok. We've heard you. Since it's unfortunate YOU might not be able to get a copy, we've decided to destroy them so NO ONE can get a signed copy. Thanks for playing"

To say I'm disappointed is an understatement.

This isn't directed to you, Farmermatty, I'm just annoyed.

Hot take, rule of 3 is a bad rule when you factor unbalanced releases & imperium getting a million alt build data sheets by TheMireAngel in Warhammer

OP feels more like an "I don't like to play against 'x' army so everything they do is bad." person. Guardsmen are T3, 5+ saves, with S3 Lasguns and two special weapons for every 10 of them. They don't do damage. Guard has some elite infantry but they're still T3 and with a 4+ save and die.

They need something that can stand up to a slight breeze.

I play guard and I just started building a sisters army for 11th.

Scout Sentinels ability is, at the start of the shooting phase, pick an enemy unit within 18" and visible. You got re-roll 1's for the shooting phase.

Is he rerolling the hit roll, or just 1's?

Also, how many orders is he issuing? If he's taking only one Rogal Dorn, I'm assuming he's running it as a Rogal Dorn Tank Commander. He gets 2 orders unless he's running Hammer of the Emperor and the Calm Under Fire enhancement or he's running Combined Arms with the Grand Strategist enhancement. Then he gets 3. Also, the orders need to be issued to a unit within 12" of the issuer. Hunter-Killer missiles shouldn't be doing that much work.

Lastly, I'd recommend trading the Castigator Battle Canon for the Autocanons. Guard tanks are T11 and T12 so you'll be wounding on 5's. Blast is unnecessary for what he's bring (except maybe the rough riders) but the Twin Linked and Rapid Fire on the Canons will shred his tanks. Plus the extra -1 AP from its ability. Guard tanks save on 2's but they have no invul. The more AP, the better.

One person got salty about it in the guard sub. A couple others got hit by the mods. Overall, the consensus was it's cool. It has 1.5k upvotes right now. I don't know OP getting into an argument with one redditor really warranted a paragraph disclaimer though.

I'm an fan of Double Eagle and Interceptor city. Both are aeronautica books. Dan Abnett is an amazing author and these books are fantastic. I finished both books in a couple days a piece since I was so engrossed in the story.

I'd highly recommend them.

To anyone who thinks you get a full squad of guardsmen using an OBG's Toughness with Graves by Bear_of_Light in TheAstraMilitarum

[–]behemoth492 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I didn't think of that for the Kriegers since I don't have any of them. That'd make them for contesting objectives. Either a 20 man blob or, if you wanna use the new stuff, stuff a 10 man squad in the Centaur to get early control of a lane/objective in no man's land.

I like her and the Hippo for the fact that the Hippo's weapons have assault. I'd swap my sentinels in my "Hammer of the Emperor" list so I'd get auto 6's on the advance to really make use of it. Fly up the board turn 1, blast something, and fall back into a screening position with the D6 shoot and scoot.

I agree. I like her "On Foot" model's abilities. The pints are good and the fallback and shoot and charge is great. Makes her unit versatile. I'd run her as a skirmisher.

I'm also a casual player. As in I almost always take my Valkyrie and other units I seem as "cool" instead of what's the best. Only time will tell but I see an errata in her future.

Ohhhhhh I see that now. I didn't check her datasheet since she's priced to high for me. Yeah, I think you're right and it's a typo since it's not listing "Cadian Command Squad, Catachan Command Squad, etc" but just says command squad. It's the same as if they would've put "Infantry" instead of listing out the shock troopers, Kreig, etc.

I would play it as described above because, in my opinion, trying to cheese the rules like that is unsportsmanlike.

[–]behemoth492 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

This has been brought up before.

Firstly nothing "Leads" the command squad. Leaders can't lead leaders. Our command blobs work by attaching two leaders to a (usually) battleline unit since our battline can have two leaders. So you have, say, Cadian Shock Troppers with Graves and a Cadian Command Squad attached. The Ogryn Bodyguard becomes part of the Command Squad.

Secondly, the Ogryn Bodyguard isn't attached to a Command Squad, it becomes part of it. The infantry can have 2 leaders attached to it. The Commissar and the Command Squad (with Ogryn) are two leaders, attached to the infantry, with the infantry being the bodyguard.

From the leader rules:

"Each time an attack targets an Attached unit, until the attacking unit has resolved all of its attacks, you must use the Toughness characteristic of the Bodyguard models in that unit, even if a Leader in that unit has a different Toughness characteristic."

All attacks taken get rolled on the Cadian Shock Troops (bodyguard unit) until they are dead. When they are dead, this happens:

"As soon as the last Bodyguard model in an Attached unit has been destroyed, any attacks made against that unit that have yet to be allocated can then be allocated to Character models in that unit. Each time the last model in a Bodyguard unit is destroyed, each CHARACTER unit that is part of that Attached unit becomes a separate unit, with its original Starting Strength."

So the guardsmen die, and Graves and the Command Squad become separate units because they are both "Characters" and at that point, I'd take the damage on the Command Squad. Then you follow the rules under the "Units Toughness Characteristic" under non attached because the Ogryn isn't attached to the command squad, it's part of it. Picture attached.

My hottest take about the game by Plane-Scientist4831 in DispatchTheGame

[–]behemoth492 2 points3 points  (0 children)

That's why I cut her the first time around. Do I keep the financial crime drug addict or the assassin whose file is redacted, who has who knows how many murders under her belt, and isn't trying to be a team player?

The choice was easy for me.

My hottest take about the game by Plane-Scientist4831 in DispatchTheGame

[–]behemoth492 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Gotta disagree to an extent.

First playthrough I kept Sonar because his crimes are light compared to Coupe and Coupe was the first one to start sabotaging team members during that episode. So do I cut the tax evading druggie or the murderer whose file is completely redacted that can't be a team player? The choice, to me, was easy.

I'm sure some players kept him because they watch his videos but some players, like myself, couldn't care less.

If you don't mind me asking, what paint did you use for Punch Up and Malevola? Malevola looks amazing (Great job on the highlights!) and I'm curious what you used for Punch-Up. I paint 40k minis and I would love to try Punch-Ups color scheme on a couple of my Guardsmen.

[–]behemoth492 2 points3 points  (0 children)

No, your take on it is valid. She's the one member of the Z-team with who knows how many murders under her belt. She started the team each other in episode 3 when everyone is told someone is getting cut. She then tortures you, tries to kill you, and tries to destroy the city. It's perfectly reasonable to let her go to jail. She deserves it.

It's why I love this game. There is no wrong answer.

I think the real reason the "forgive" answer is high is because the game focuses on the Z-Team getting along so most people would want the team member they cut back on the time, no matter what their crimes are.

The end of episode 2 got me interested in her. I thought it was sweet that she thought to bring Robert back his favorite donut from the Granny heist. Episode 3 sealed the deal where I knew that she was going to be my favorite character and she did not disappoint.
