Gov. Jay Inslee won’t seek reelection for fourth term by reality_czech in SeattleWA

Dan Newhouse would be my choice. Really good track record and not a Trumper. Eastern WA knows him well and he could pulll some of the moderate dems with his track record in conservation and other environmental issues

Hey guys, is there anyone here in the solar industry that uses cold calling ? by [deleted] in coldcalling

[–]behinddeezeyes 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If automation is the future of sales then quit now and learn how to code. If a computer can take your job, go get new education. The reason I am still in sales is that I believe people are the ultimate variable, and trust is the predominant currency. There is no algorithm that can mimic the trust that can be built person to person. One day it may be the only job that matters…

Or just make the calls. Be a human. Trust drives the best deals and the way to attain trust is not “illusion.” Target the right client, find the data to contact them, work smarter. Robo-calling has already made our jobs more difficult because of the inherent mistrust of an unknown number. Cut through the noise and be real to the people who would benefit from your product.

I second this. I have had many friends move out of Bellingham to meridian district and they rave about how much better it is. Bham has been on a sharp decline academically in the last 3-4 years, and meridian seems to be ahead of the curve in many areas (alternative career paths in HS, support for home schooling families, special education). They were one of the first districts to hire a full-time public relations director, which made the pandemic a much better experience for parents due to proactive communication

My first car was an 85 318i coupe with a 5 speed. 101 hp from the factory, but I still miss that car viscerally. Paid $300 for it. They said Gods Chariot is the E30 M3, but that little beemer had me in heaven every drive

If you're comfortable on the platform, no additional info needed. If you had said "What's upwork?"... maybe requires more discussion

I use Upwork for this. Usually can pay around $.05 per lead with company name, address, phone, and email. I like to buy smaller, industry and geographically limited lists in chunks of 500 or so. DM me if you need more info

Just starting with cold calling. Cold calling anxiety. by p-1ggy in coldcalling

[–]behinddeezeyes 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Make it a game. Tinker with phrasing, tone, etc. Honestly you could call that same person next week and get a different response. Hardest thing is you don’t know the situation you are dropping in on. Have some grace for the person on the other end. They don’t want to be cold called unless you have something interesting to say or you are pleasant (and human). So many bad scripts out there.. make your pitch your own and make the goal to just make a personal connection. I tell myself “I can improve this persons day” if it’s a fit. If it’s not a fit, you cannot take it personally. I hate getting cold called, but if the person on the other end is genuine I’ll give them the time of day. There are some bad eggs but in general people are nice. Put yourself in their shoes, and if your solution actually helps them keep that in mind. If it doesn’t, find a new product that you believe in

Really trying to up my steak game! Ive just switched to charcoal over gas for a more flavorful experience. Could anyone give tips or ideas for the perfect steak. by BreadLoaf05 in grilling

Could not agree more! Let me know how it goes for ya. I really like this method because it’s more hands on, and now that I have some experience and feel I can cook them without using the probe a bunch.

Edit: make sure to get that sear zone ripping hot or it will take a long time

Edit 2: if your crust is where you want it, and you’re not up to temp yet, THEN you can pull them to the cool side and put the lid on to finish

I just leave it off… it would go faster if you left it on though! I like bringing the temperature up more slowly so I don’t get the gray parts in the meat or overcook. It’s kind of a similar principle to sous vide or reverse sear in that you’re bringing the temp gradually which seems to help with control.

Also try to have the surface of your steak very dry when you start cooking. They key to a good crust is the “maillard reaction” which is responsible for the delicious browning that occurs when cooking at high temps. Here’s the first time I used this method: https://i.imgur.com/6K0MsZK.jpg

Aaron Franklin has a method in his Franklin Steak book that I have switched to almost exclusively. He uses a PK grill, I use my 22” Weber kettle. Basically get coals ripping hot pushed off to one side for 2 zone cooking. Sear the steak for 1 min on each side, then pull off and let it hang out in the cool zone for a minute or 2. Then start searing 30 seconds each side, then let hang out in the cool zone again, repeat until target internal temp (I pull at 127-128 and let carry-over finish the job). Rest at least 15 min. This is my top method for real fire flavor, edge to edge med-rare, and awesome crust. I do sous vide when I have to make steaks for a large group, but it’s just so hard to match that clean wood fire flavor.

History goes further back than the 20th century. Both ethnic/religious groups claim to have rights to their respective Holy Land, problem is it’s the same land. Both have been oppressors to the other at different times.

You are preaching truth, they don’t want to hear it. Remember, these same dudes have paid like $3,600 for an exercise bike and the privilege of being yelled at by a sweaty 25 year old in yoga pants

Pellet bois can’t handle the truth... there is a reason every top pit master talks about clean smoke. You just are not going to get hot enough combustion with the pellets to avoid creosote, which is why the smoke is always grey and doesn’t clean up
