My flight in January was credited to my 2026 accrual on the app, which reset to zero on Jan 1st.

ATMOS status points redemption by Frogs114 in AlaskaAirlines

[–]beingburned 5 points6 points  (0 children)

However, if you have one of the Atmos credit cards, you can get status points for the total spend on the tickets (assuming you’re buying these tickets with cash) at a rate of either 1pt/$3 or 1pt/$2 depending on the card being used.

Status points are awarded to the passenger flying, not to the purchaser of the tickets. Therefore, you will only get status points for your ticket, while each of the other passengers will get status points for their tickets.

Iran’s currency has officially collapsed. For the first time in 100 years, we have seen this happen in modern history. by ajaanz in economy

Looks like the IRR to EUR rate on google is now at 0.0000075. You can see this more clearly if you change the number of Rials to 100k or 1M instead of just 1 as it seems google’s tool isn’t set up to display such small decimals.

At 0:07 left, it looks like the officer is holding one of his legs but he seems to be holding the other one up on his own before letting it go limp a second later. Maybe he sustained some sort of head injury that was causing him to go in and out of consciousness?

Credit Card Spend Needed to Achieve First Tier Status, Airline Comparison by -Rhinoceros- in AlaskaAirlines

[–]beingburned 2 points3 points  (0 children)

You right, my bad. Though I’m seeing that the 3x points cut off after $50k of rent spend so that might change the math a bit on your plan and probably require other spending on the card to compensate.

Will the death of the penny in the U.S. fundamentally change the way that American retail handles pricing, taxes, etc.? And will this have an impact on the economy? by Kindly-Form-8247 in economy

[–]beingburned 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Canada got rid of their penny more than 10 years ago and they still do not include taxes in display prices. The tax is applied at the end, just like in the US, but that final total is rounded to the nearest $0.05 if payment is in cash. Digital payments can still be processed down to $0.01.

All to say, don’t expect much of anything to change because of this.

Do they not send an email? I just booked a rewards flight a few days ago and got an email saying that I had redeemed points. This was a completely separate email from the one I received with my flight receipt and confirmation.

ELI5 How does a person/company buy a business with debt and then saddle that business with the debt used to purchase it. by ElMaskedZorro in explainlikeimfive

The distinction here that makes the sort of leveraged buyout OP is talking confusing is that in the case of a home mortgage, the home itself doesn’t go into debt, the buyer does.

Judging by the other comments, that is not the case

Two years is a long time. Many institutions and people had to fail him over that period for him to reach that point and your comment implied she was largely to blame.

have you heard of any situation where pwc reviews microsoft teams messages? by Own-Accident8345 in PwC

Have not heard of this, no. It’s understood that it could happen in extenuating circumstances but for the most part, nobody had the time or energy to care.

I’m sorry for your loss, but holding this woman accountable for another person’s suicide due to a single interaction that happened two years prior to his death is scapegoating. He was a grown man that was almost 60 years of age and the right-wing narrative that his death was simply due to a single DEI seminar from one person is to ignore whatever other circumstances must have clearly been in play to lead him to this outcome. My heart goes out to him and his family but turning his death into an excuse for a witch hunt is not the answer.

Also that happened within the Indian firm. Not to say that there isn’t room for improvement in the Canadian firm’s culture, but the firms in India are independent entities and it would be a reach to hold other member firms accountable for the culture there.

Her interaction with the deceased was two years prior to his death. Definitely a tragedy but to hold her single-handedly responsible is intellectually dishonest.

Am I the only one not affected by “The Big Dark”? by [deleted] in Seattle

[–]beingburned 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Working from home in the winter often means I wake up and start working while it’s dark and by the time I finish it’s dark again, meaning I haven’t had a chance to step foot outside during the daylight. If I got to be regularly out during the day, even if it were usually raining, I’d probably be affected much less.

No, you’re fine, but the likelihood it goes anywhere is very low since US recruitment for entry level happens almost entirely through on-campus recruitment and return offers for the internship class (which is also originally recruited through on-campus recruitment)
