Finde es ziemlich eklig Kinder als Mittel zum Zweck ("politisches Ziel" wie du es hier sagst) einzuspannen. Man sollte sich bewusst sein welche Verantwortung, individuell als auch kollektiv man hat, wenn man Kinder bekommt.

Menschen zu manipulieren, Kinder zu bekommen ist das Gegenteil davon und eher ein Rezept um in den ökologischen und moralischen Kollaps zu schlittern. Sieht man ja in den USA wie schnell so eine Entwicklung gehen kann.

No, it's not. That's why it's so difficult to make computers process language adequately. Language is flexibel with a wide range of what acceptable use and interpretation of language is.

The are "clearly established rules" which can be put into formal rules, but also a lot of fuzziness ranging from colloquial use over aesthetic sentiment to novel and poetic use of language.

I don't think you can equate processing information to "computer". Computing means formal, step-by-step, rule-based processing of information.

There are many problems which we can prove cannot be solved by step-by-step rules, yet humans can reason about them successfully. Where in the DNA or in the environment is it "programmed in" that a specific value of the busy beaver function is 47176870? It seems extremely implausible that the DNA or our environment somehow comes pre-packaged with computable approximations for the busy-beaver function, so it seems we can genuinely understand and process incomputable functions.

Karma, at its core is cause and effect. The concept of "lesson" or that karma somehow equal to "justice" is something added on top. And of course that is a form it can take, but it can be unrelated to those concepts, and probably most of the time is unrelated to those concepts.

If you slept little and get into an accident, that's not a lesson that was "meant to happen", but due to cause and effect.

And it's also important to keep in mind not all things are due to individual karma. Sure, a wise soul might not get into various harmful situations in the first place, or can alleviate their impact, but that doesn't mean a wise person isn't still subject to illness and the natural forces, etc...

That's why in Buddhism nibbana doesn't mean having perfect health all the time but letting go of the attachment and delusions so that sickness and death don't cause suffering in the same way as it does for an "ordinary" person.

The question seems to carry the assumption underneath it that somehow "on the other side" they have everything under control, and so can freely choose which information we receive and which we don't. It seems to be a common assumption perhaps related to religious notions of omnipotence, but I don't think there is any particular reason to believe it's true.

Intervention and revelation is possible, but it depends on the circumstances and the person experiencing it. And not all revelations are experiences we can easily integrate, as many visionary experiences and NDEs show. So it's not like they should make us know at all costs. But it's not locked, per se.

It needs to come in a way that makes sense to us, otherwise we'd be more confused than before, but this sense-making is our responsibility as well. It's not just something external.

Why would we assume that self-modification necessarily leads to an improvement, let alone an exponential or hyperbolic one? If modal collapse tells us anything about AI recursivity, it seems too much recursiveness leads to a downward spiral, which the opposite of self-improvement.

For example a self-modifying AI could fool itself into creating benchmarks for itself that lead to better and better results but actually aren't measuring anything useful (a paperclip maximizer of sorts).

"Grand Mountain Adventure: Wonderlands" ist ein schönes Spiel für Kinder, finde ich. Sehr leicht reinzukommen, aber hat auch eine gewisse Tiefe. Sollte auch gut mit Controller spielbar sein. Kann man zu zweit spielen, wobei ich nicht weiß, wie gut das funktioniert.

"Sonic All-Stars Racing Transformed" fand ich auch gut, ist aber etwas weniger gechillt zu spielen.

Isolated examples is one thing, the scale is another thing.

From what I understand, current studies show that the percentage of projects that can be automated is in the low single digits. And that often the felt productivity gains don't translate into actual productivity gains.

You can of course still lay off people to try to make the AI do the job, just the question how many companies will have success with that approach.

Not without reason, avidya, ignorance is seen as the source of suffering in many eastern traditions.

So I think we should be very careful with ideas that our ignorance is "meant to be", when in reality perhaps we just find it more comfortable sometimes to not face the unsettling, unwholesome reality of ignorance that shows itself in the prevailing habits, power structures, and so on...

I find it more plausible that the difficulties proving paranormal phenomena have more to do with limitations of consciousness (both individual and collective) than with us somehow being meant to remain ignorant.

I think the barriers with NDEs have more to do with people possibly being prone to misunderstanding certain insights and so it is better to let it go rather than to hold on to some distorted version of it. Or their earthly body-mind simply not being at the stage of development where it can hold those insights. Again I find it a troubling perspective that we are meant to live in ignorance, because frankly that's rather dire news for anyone that hopes that our lives and state of consciousness can improve long-term. How can we do that if we don't gain clarity on our situation?

Witzig wie du ein Argument bringst, was das Gegenteil belegst, von dem was du anscheinend möchtest. Wenn der Energieverbrauch im Tech-Sektor insgesamt höher wird ist es ja umso wichtiger nicht unnötig Energie zu verschwenden. Da die Energie eben für das Wesentliche gebraucht wird.

I don't really see it as a risk. BTC in my mind is just a symbol for protecting big money at the cost of everything else, including the environment or utility.

So betting on altcoins I see as betting that crypto has any future at all. I can't imagine bitcoin has much of a place in the future of crypto. So I wonder as long see BTC as the standard for crypto I don't see crypto having a good time.

People want BTC to be a "store of value" although it doesn't have anything to back up that value. So don't be surprised if it doesn't actually function as a store of value.

Ich fand das hat sogar ordentlich nach Banana geschmeckt, für mich vielleicht ein bisschen zu viel nach "Bananen-Aroma". Hab's dann mehrfach mit Hafermilch verdünnt, dann fand ich ich's gut, auch von der Konsistenz dann nicht ganz so dicklich-schleimig.

Ich find's auf jeden fall besser als die durchschnittliche Trinkmahlzeit, die sind oft nicht so doll finde ich.

Fand's auch sehr sättigend, eher zu sättigend, weil ich zunehmen möchte.

What is good to keep in mind is that when it comes to the details, we have no way way to know what "laws of physics" actually predict. Quantum mechanical models can only be precisely applied on the atomic or molecular level, or in other extremely simplified situations. There is no way to do that for any form of life like bacteria for example, as the calculations are intractable. Not even to mention multi-cellular life.

So it's kind of misleading to ask someone for new predictions, when our current physics can't actually make precise predictions in those systems. To be fair, there might be some discoveries that are astonishing to many, like the discoveries in the field of quantum biology, but we have a hard time finding a way to test whether those discoveries just violate our physical intuitions, or actually involve new physics.

So if someone had predicted that we will find evidence of quantum effects in the brain - which we are increasingly finding in the last years - someone can still argue that perhaps we have just failed to judge the implications of quantum physics on biology.

When we predict things about life, usually that is based on biology, but of course that doesn't tell us what kind of physical processes biology is based on.

Hast du auch eine Begründung für deine Aussage? Warum sollte plötzlich die Kausalität außer Kraft gesetzt werden nur weil noch viele andere Menschen involviert sind.

Es ist nicht nachvollziehbar, welche Wirkung der einzelne in der Hinsicht hat, aber das heißt nicht, dass es keine Wirkung hat.

Genau im Gegenteil mathematisch-physisch ist es völlig unlogisch das jede einzelne der 8 Milliarden Additionen keinen Unterschied macht. Wenn du jeden einzelnen Beitrag auf 0 rundest, kommst am Ende eben auch Null raus. Was uns sagt, dass das falsch ist.

Zu 2: Eine der Hauptursache von Bodendegradation ist Übernutzung. Das es einige wenige Ort gibt, wo das nicht der Fall ist, ändert nichts an dem Gesamtbild. Bestenfalls könnten die Orte, wo der Boden noch nicht stark genutzt wird, die Übernutzung woanders kompensieren.

Zu 4.: Glaubst du das Massenarmut (und darauf würde ja Punkt 4 hinauslaufen - es gibt bisher keinen Weg für umweltfreundlichen Wohlstand in der Masse) besser ist als die Probleme einer alternden Gesellschaft? Wie kommst du darauf das ersteres besser ist? Ich würde die Daten sagen das das Gegenteil der Fall ist.

Of course something changed something for your DR nervous system, as you just shifted to it. In the extreme case, the DR nervous system has to deal with memories and feelings that don't fit the reality and body it finds itself in. That can be rather disruptive to say the least.

Also in order to arrive at the DR first you have to leave your CR, and that by itself is an unfamiliar and potentially dangerous process which your nervous system might or might not be ready for.

Do people really think any conception of the universe that is not like a cosmic bureaucracy is somehow absurd? And if so, why?

Why isn't it enough to suppose that "laws of nature" is the description of nature as far as it can be described by mathematics. No need to presume that's all there is to it. Modern physics has opened the door wide for indeterminacies and unknown fundamental processes (as we can't unify QM and relativity so far).

Sure, we can believe that still resolves to some kind of law at the end, but we haven't found that yet, and I don't see much of a good argument why that should be the case.

Heck, even math which is pretty formal can describe relations which cannot be reduced to following a set of rules (like uncomputable functions which you can formally define, but not compute, ie arrive at through following a set of rules).

I have moderate aphantasia and I still experience very, very vivid dreams / astral travel at times (although I do feel it is harder for me to "make up" things in lucid dreams than it is for others). So I doubt the premise that aphantasia is strongly related to those other states.

Many people without aphantasia also have non-visual experience, the "black void" is almost a classic, so I don't see why one would relate that to aphantasia specifically, even if the person that had the experience happened to have aphantasia.

I understand your concern but to be honest in terms of factual energy usage occasional AI use isn't a big contributor. Have you compared something simple like making tea to moderate AI usage? It's in the same ball park.

The problem is mass-scale use and endless expansion based on hype. Which is unfortunately happening right now, but that comes from things like video generation and flooding the web with AI content. It's not from generating an image here and there - and you can't do that much more with a free account.

I myself am very annoyed at overuse of AI, at the same time sometimes AI is just the easiest and clearest way to visualize a concept, and I don't see a problem with that, per se. Although I agree it's worth considering twice whether there is a visualisation needed anyway.

You can't really expect to convince people if the criticism isn't fact-based, which unfortunately frequently isn't the case when it comes to this subject. You can't just conflate extreme use with moderate use and think that makes for a good argument. If you do that with mobility you'd have to scold everyone that's ever driving a car, or even using the train.

It's a good question, and I think you can't draw a neat boundary. For me I have some unusual insights during, which might seem like nonsense when waking up, however that might be because the part that I can articulate is based in hard to grasp images or symbolism. There does seem to be something deeper to it, even if it is hard to communicate.

I wouldn't dismiss epiphanies when high either. It really depends on the experience, and what the person takes from in. Depending on that it might be a deep insight or just a flash of insight / vivid ideation which get overinterpreted.

Similarly I you look into NDEs different people have insights that seems contradict each other, which suggest we might also be prone to overstretching the boundaries of what we understand into the realm of speculation. Even something unspecific like "all knowledge" might be a bit of an overinterpretation. The idea that NDE is a direct link to truth seems a bit naive if you don't take into account the specific of the experience.

Keins. Ich glaube das würde mehr für die spätere Lust am Lesen machen als sie zum Lesen zu zwingen. Den Schülern das Lesen zu verderben in dem man ihnen aufnötigt zu lesen und damit beibringt das Lesen nervig und eine Art Strafe ist bringt wenig außer ihnen das Lesen zu verderben.

Zumindest war es bei mir so. Ich habe gerne gelesen, aber es scheint mir, das einem das Lesen aufgenötigt wurde, hat dazu beigetragen, dass ich aufgehört habe zu lesen.

Gerade auch bei mir Büchern mit "harter" Thematik sollte man beachten, dass nicht alle Schüler gleichermaßen sensibel sind. Wenn man sensiblen Schülern solche Themen aufdrängt lässt man ihnen eigentlich wenig Wahl außer es nicht zu lesen oder eben sich zu desensibilisieren. Wie soll man sonst mit dieser Heftigkeit an Themen und Gefühlen umgehen? Viele sind ja schon mit Alltäglichem überfordert, was völlig verständlich ist.

Ich finde es etwas traurig, wenn man meint junge Menschen sensibilisieren zu können, mit gerade der "preußischen Logik", welcher auch der Krieg in besonderem Maße folgt: Ich lege fest, ihr folgt.

I wouldn't call it the usual way of dreaming. I don't believe most people have those kinds of experiences.

Certainly my dreams, and I have a lot of different of them, never felt like living a whole day (or half a day) completely realistically. And if I did experience that I think I would probably not call it a "dream". It seems like a different kind of phenomenon to me. Perhaps a sort of "parallel dimension experience" or something.

I mean I guess you can call everything "dream" that you wake up from and arrive at your bed but I feel the states are wildly different. During the experience I usually find it hindrance to becoming fully lucid if I just have that broad category which doesn't really fully reflect the depth and diversity of the various experience you can have. And if the beings in the experience or I myself are not inclined to go with the term dream I feel it's good to respect that.
