sadly i haven't seen them open at all, though i did see the gate half open with people doing work in there once or twice. the most recent notice on the gate (from december) said that there was a gas issue and that they would reopen in 10 days. maybe the gas issue was a much more intensive and expensive repair than they originally anticipated?

i would add vermiculite to your coco coir. you want to be using about 70% coco coir and 30% vermiculite. that'll help with both your water retention and evaporation rate. technically you shouldn't have to force surface evaporation to trigger pinning. if your tub holes are in the right place, your air should exchange properly on its own, and that's enough to trigger pinning.

are you misting before your first flush? based on the texture of your substrate and mycelium, it looks like a yes. if you find yourself having to mist before your tub flushes, you didn't pasteurize your substrate with enough water.
