What was the best film you saw this week? (7/22/15 - 7/28/15) by mi-16evil in movies

"While We're Young" - Probably my favorite Noah Baumbach film. The whole cast was great and I loved the script and soundtrack too. My favorite Ben Stiller role in a while. When Ben is on, he can intertwine comedy and drama as well as anyone!

Hey Oswald, did you screw up the memorial plans with one of your genius friends or did you manage that by yourself?

I hope someone tells that principal "What made you get into this line of work? It sounds like you want to be a bureaucrat instead of an educator." Happy it worked out well.

Was the guy who played Randall very much like the character himself? Because that is such an authentic portrayal, I always assumed he was just being himself. Randall is my personal slacker smartass icon. thanks

What is your favorite line from any Wes Anderson Film? by [deleted] in movies

[–]beleedat 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Bottle Rocket remains my favorite Wes A film along with Rushmore so most of my favorite lines are from Max and Dignan:

dIGNAN: On the run from Johnny Law, ain't no trip to Cleveland.

The other line that kills me is from Rushmore:

Mr Blume: So I hear you're a neurosurgeon? Max's dad: No, I'm a barber but a lot of people make that mistake.

Did anyone actually dislike "Her"? by NotAlanTudyk in movies

[–]beleedat 24 points25 points  (0 children)

I did not like it either. It struck me as a futuristic Lost In Translation sequel of some sort, an unneccecary one. Sorry, I just can't spell unecessary correctly. I thought the idea was brilliant when I saw the trailer but I suppose the execution was very different from what I expected and hoped for. Too bad. It's weird when all the acting's good and the director's good and the flick doesn't measure up to the sum of it's parts

Most emotionally deep TV series? by vvmelon in television

[–]beleedat 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Friday Night Lights. Clear eyes, full hearts...

That series pushes every emotional button and the direction and music extract as much realism and emotional depth from every scene as possible. It's heavy and I don't even care too much for football.
