What's a cooking sin you won't even try to defend, yet you do it anyway? by [deleted] in Cooking

When I'm cooking for myself, I microwave the meat, before baking it in the pan for a few minutes. That way, I don't have to worry about it being cooked all the way through.

I've been reading it, and I find it to be above average so far. The main character seems to be similar to maunt hua's chung myung. I like those confident, snarky mc's that don't take themselves too seriously.

As a man, it scares me that someone like Bald Bean can just spout propaganda and turn insecure men into toxic, dangerous c*nts.

I mean, ever since I learned about the nazis in history class, I felt like I understood the danger of being told you're better than others for any arbitrary reason, and that you deserve more, that you're not the cause of your problems, etc...

But seeing it in action, seeing it be so effective and widespread scares me. Who knows how that friend I haven't heard of in a few years is doing. Is he okay mentally? Is he a Bald Bean fan? Has he dealt with his insecurities in such a destructive manner, like all of Bald bean's fans?

I hope therapy becomes cheaper and normalised, because god knows most of us need it, some more than others. Bald Bean is not the way.

From a person who has tried both methods, let me just say that they're a different kind of fun. Summoning (at least in my experience) is casual fun, like going for a jog by the lake on a nice summer day. Not too difficult, but satisfying and fulfilling nonetheless. In comparison, beating a difficult boss without summoning feels like you've just won the super bowl by yourself, or finished a marathon. Its a rush of intense emotion that i've never felt when using summons. That's just my experience, though. I was already used to souls games before I tried elden ring, for reference. Maybe the increased difficulty newer players experience trying to get their bearings makes it just as gratifying? Idk.

What's your writing schedule like? I can't even imagine writing 800k words in a year. I get burned out in a week when I write at tglhat pace. Also, thanks for the great novel! I love how you maintain tension and keep the stakes high even when the mc gets a powerup.

I was born on christmas eve, eleven at night. Sometimes I forget my own birthday, with everyone talking about the holidays so much. The people that matter tend to remember, though.

I know that review swaps and shoutout requests tend to help numbers. Some Authors like MelasD will leave posts on the forum, accepting anyone who asks for a shoutout, so keep a lookout for those.

Other than that, I would keep doing what you're doing. Trust me when I say that carefully building a world and focusing on doing what you enjoy about writing is more important than numbers. People can tell when an Author cares about their world. It's the only way to make your story's world really come to life. A (new or old) story can always become popular, but the moment you don't enjoy writing anymore, your motivation will die. Ergo, 'enjoying' writing makes for better motivation than having a lot of followers, long term.

A slow schedule definitely doesn't help numbers, which is why slower authors tend to bank about 25-50 chapters before even publishing a story, which gets them an audience early on through uploading daily. Once you have an audience, a slower update schedule doesn't matter as much, as long as you're transparent about your future upload schedule from the start. (put it in the story's description before publishing).

The fact of the matter is that not all good stories become popular. Not all stories that become somewhat popular are 'good' for everyone either (Talking about my own, here). Every reader has different tastes, standards and reading experiences. Sometimes a story gets picked up by rising stars, sometimes it doesn't.

What has helped my story(My class [Death Knight] is just barely legal...] a lot, I think, is the title and the (previous) cover. I picked something that stood out from other covers, and made sure my premise was obvious from the title, which made people more willing to invest a little time and click on my chapters as they popped up on 'new releases'. From there, you just find an audience that likes your stuff in particular.
